Do you use park touring apps?

I was wondering what people thought of the park touring apps in terms of accuracy of wait times, ease of use, and if they thought they were worth messing with? I've been to wdw probably 30+ times so I'm not a newbie but I noticed people using them on a recent trip and was wondering what seasoned disney goers thought? My phone is an android so if anyone has anything specific good or bad I'd love to hear it.

I would love to know as well. We will be heading to the world in 30 days and I would like to know which ones are worth the download.

(I have a Verizon iphone)

The official WDW app on VZW is linked to the ride wait times and servers for everything. It should have all the details as you would see them in the park real time. Plus, it is free now and works on most phones.

As for the others, they require guest input for accuracy.

I have an Iphone and use the Lines app, it seemed pretty accurate, but it is guest input for the wait times. If my app was wrong though, it usually said longer than the ride was.

I like the Touring Plans app (Lines).

A lot of it is based on guest input, but I've found them to be very accurate. When I'm in the parks, I also add wait times, to help with their accuracy.

I like the idea of having the technology But cant stand the thought of pulling my cell phone out all day long to check Line times.

I guess ill try it this year and see how it goes. It would be cool if you could download fast passes to it and use the phone to ease the wait times.

Go to the Market Place and get the official Disney app. It has M&G info, show times, parade times, line wait times, and a bunch of other stuff.

They also have a statistical model in place that helps them collate and analyze past data, so the wait times are not just based on guest input; the guest input helps to refine their database and their models.

It is available on verizon droid phones, so you will be able to get it. I use the official one for the most part as well now on my droid, but use touring plans as well (and used it exclusively until I was able to get mobile magic). If you are looking for wait time accuracy then Mobile Magic is as good as it gets though since it is hooked up to the Disney computers. What you see on your phone is what you will see at the front of the attraction, and it also lets you know if a ride is down. If you can't get mobile magic then touring plans is best because it doesn't rely solely on guest input. It's statistical models help with the prediction process.

I downloaded Lines about 6 months ago, and liked checking it randomly from home, so I could tell my friends, "The line for Haunted Mansion is only 10 minutes!"

On my trip last month, I submitted a few times, but found that the times suggested by the app were typically off by around 5-10 minutes (some a little more).

They're really more of a guide than an absolute, I think. Still, they definitely have some value - especially if you're considering hopping parks, but you're not sure what the crowds are like.

I thought I was the only one that did this! :lookaroun

The other day in my parent's living room I was reporting the wait times to my mom. She's just as nuts as I am so she was all excited for the reports.

I am definitely planning on glancing at it before we plan to hop. Other than that I try to stay off my phone in the parks. Reminds me too much of the outside world.

The only one that will ever be absolute is the official Mobile Magic app, as that has direct access to Disney's computers.

The others are mainly based on guest input, Lines refines that by using a database and a statistical model to help improve the predictions.

If the app was typically off by 5-10 minutes I think that is excellent!

I used Lines when I was there in November and it was invaluable. It was easy to balance the predicted, historical data with what was submitted by the users and combining that with a loosely followed touring plan we walked on to nearly everything.

Of course, our lack of waiting had to do with the time of year that we went but it really helped guide us to things that were no wait.

I agree, we have loved the Lines app our last couple of trips. It was always very close.

Rock N Roller coaster was down for most of the morning one day and the app saved us from walking over several times to find out if it was reopened. It also saved us from going to get Fastpasses across the park once. Luckily we checked to see if they were out before we sent someone!
