Do you use park hopper is it really worth it?

The last 2 trips we have had park hoppers. Is it really worth it now? Or is it better to just make each day a different park and stick to that? Also without park hoppers can you leave one park, go back to the resort to swim and return to that same park that night if you want? Trying to think of ways to change things up for next trip.

When my entire family goes, we rarely get park hoppers. I have small children, so one park per day is about as much as we can accomplish. If only my wife and I go down, then we almost always park hop. We were there this fall just the two of us, and we were able to see three parks each day without much issue.

Were looking at it both ways, as i intend to cut our park days from 7 to 5, and spend 2 days at the resort. If we end up going the way were trending we will be upgrading my wife and I to Wilderness lodge, so i want to build in some resort time to enjoy that. I could see us doing 2 days at Epcot, 1 day at MK, 1 day at AK and one day at DHS.

I would say this is personal preference. Are you a jump-all-over kind of park goer or are
you a one-parkaday loyalist.
I don't necessarily jump around but if I'm going out of the park to eat somewhere on-site,
I'll generally return to a different park.

the last 2 trips have been on site, and i tend to get up early catch a ride we missed at a parkl and meet the girls elsehwere, or decide to go somewhere else last minute. Usually if we come back to the resort, were going somewhere else. Case in point last trip,

Saturday- DHS to MK
Sunday AK to the Springs
Monday AK to MK
Tuesday DHS to EPCOT
Wednesday EPCOT
Thursday- MK to AK For nightime show
Friday MK
Saturday - Home

We had them once first trip but found we never used them so we never bothered again. We will almost always go back to the resort to nap/ swim & then return to the same park later. There is so much to see in them that you can easily stay a full day. Granted we tend to open and close parks. We have also had the benefit of staying enough days where we had more than 1 day per park usually 6 night 7 days. We usually spent 2 days in MK & 2 at Epcot. Leaving we had 3 days to choose between Studios & Animal Kingdom & then an extra day to go back to any one of the 4. Granted that may change a bit as AK is no longer a half day park & Studios where we usually went for 2 days will be back to 2 days with all the new stuff. last time we managed to see all but 1 attraction in 1 day. But that was when half the stuff was closed. We used to spend a lot of time in the animation section what is now Launch Bay so the time we spend there is not as much. For the cost of the hopper you could pretty much spend an extra day.

Depends. When my kids were little, we went to a park in the morning, they wanted to swim in the afternoon and were usually too tired to go back to a park at night. So I guess, think about your group when making the decision. Now that they are older we use park hopper more. Also there’s not much to do at HS right now, so keep that in mind.

Hollywood was a ghost town for sure when we were there last week in regards to things to do. We mostly ate, i got a ride on TOT, and we got a family tradition in of riding toy story mania. by the next time we go, Toy story land will have been open, and maybe we will have Galaxys edge. with the Resort parking charge now, if we go back and stay where we want. something is going to have to go to compensate...

In just wondering with the next trip being just my wife and I our touring ways may change. We tend to spend more time at Epcot because it's our favorite, and then we like to hit animal early etc. Something to think about
I've only ever been to WDW with my wife and we've always used the Park Hopper. But as others said, it's really up to what you are going to do vs the cost for $50 per tix. We liked it for more flexible dinner reservations. We can plan MK and still do dinner in EPCOT showcase, or last minute decide that EPCOT fireworks arn't doing it for us lets plan on MK's fireworks.
As others also said you can add the park hopper at any time if the need arises. We've always used it so we always plan on it.

We too use to be Park-Hopper buyers, we now feel that when we can afford an Annual Pass we arrange our visits to encompass two visits or more within the time frame before it expires.

I feel like if i were to Learn to like staying off site, an annual pass would be amazing, as we could afford to go like 3 time a year, or heck even we could go, and i could go down myself while my wife goes home to see family etc.

We had only used hopper years ago on a 4 day trip, just as a way to cram it all in. They happened to be comp tickets, so no charge to me. Other than that I was a firm believer in sticking to one park. We would do a min 5 day trip. Spending 2 full days in MK and a day each in the other parks. AK was our half day. All this changed. This year because of FOP & getting FPs for it, we will begin 3 days out of our 6 day stay at AK in order to use our FOP FPs & an additional morning there for Na’vi. Of course we did not want to spend 4 full days in AK. Hence the park hopper.

Only needed if you plan on being in two parks on the same day (e.g. Epcot then boat to HS or vice versa. Or half-day in HS with evening planned in AK. I did day in Epcot with monorail to MK to see Happily Ever After)).

It really depends on your schedule. I went with my folks one year who didn't have park hopper. They preferred two days in Epcot and one day in AK.

As id like to build in more resort time next trip,

I was thinking this:

2 days EPCOT
1 day MK
1 day MK,
1 day DHS.

I could do this depending on heat, quite easily. My wife and I love EPCOT, and could spend a whole week there honestly.

2 days each in Epcot and MK sounds about right. HS could be a half-day park depending on how much you want to do. (The back half is closed for Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Of course TSL opens 6/30). You can make it a full day by seeing every single show. On your DHS day, if you only spend a half-day, you could spend the other half at Disney Springs.

For DHS, we HAVE to run Toy Story Mania, thats about the only thing we care about. I will ride TOT, or something if its a short line, or i get a early fastpass. Other than that there isnt alot for us right now ( was just there last week) Next trip we should be there as Galaxys edge is opening so i may even choose to ignore it to avoid those crowds. Im a huge star wars fan, but im not a fan of over planning fastpass, and or large large crowds.

To round out your day after DHS, you could also consider the Boardwalk/Beaches area. You can get there by boat from HS. There is an ice cream shop in Boardwalk. And Beaches and Cream at Beach Club.

Wed be more likely to do that, as we went to Disney Springs to meet friends that live down there, and it didnt appeal to us. We got a cupcake from a vending machine, and that was the stand out moment. its too glorified mall for us.

We're using park hoppers this year for the first time in several years, because at the moment we feel there's not a enough stuff to do a full day at AK, DHS, and Epcot, so we're splitting the days for each. Like do a morning at DHS, then the night at Epcot ect... that way you can book your 3 "morning" fast passes for DHS, and once they're done, use you phone to book the additional "night" one at Epcot, and we also left a few open days in the middle of the week to see Typhoon Lagoon (weather permitting) which we haven't done in a decade or more
