After our discussion of "the Ultimate fan's WDW" show, and in planning for my next visit, I've started wondering about how many people actually follow the touring plans that are available.

I never have - mostly because I don't do "carsick rides" but also because I am schedule-phobic, and having to follow a schedule ruins the fun for me.

I generally have our days planned out - mostly around PSs and have an idea of what attractions I want to go to, but that's as far as it goes.

I plan which park I got to so I can make PS. Sometimes I make a PS for a place because of an even and that becomes the park of the day. Example. I was down there for mothers day. My mother wanted to eat in France really bad on our trip so for Mothers day I made a PS for Les Chefs de France. So on Mother's Day we were at Epcot. I also look at parades for parks. If MK is only doing Specromagic on say Tuesday and Saturdays I know one of those days is a MK day. As for rides no I don't plan, but I always start in Tomorrowland in the MK and Camp Minnie Mickey in AK. As for the other two parks I just do what ever when ever.

I use the guidebooks as a guide and make my own touring plan. I am as as Dave Dizney when it comes to touring WDW. While we were watching the show and he was saying some of the things he did, my family was looking at me, like yep, you do that too. I don't make individual schedules for everyone though.

I "fly by the seat of my pants". I just do whatever I feel like whenever I feel like doing it. I'm on vacation and I don't want to worry about schedules.

" fly by the seat of my pants". i do however plan what park to see on what day of our vacation. but, that's about all the planning i do. of course, the wife then changes everything. either way, i'm just glad to be in WDW! :sohappy:

I plan which day I will be in each park, based on which are typically the most crowded. Then I make PS arrangements. In the parks each day I usually start with a big rides, then look at wait times, get fastpasses, and do eveything as we walk by it.

We usually fly by the seat of our pants. We will decide what park to go to on the first day, see if we can get PS to eat (if needed) and wander around to our favorite things. We will usually try to do something new each trip.

At night we decide what park is next and then start all over again.

I use my own plan loosely based on the guidebooks. We know what works for us and what doesn't, so we make our own, follow it until we exhaust it, and we still usually have quite a bit of time left in the day because the parks are so uncrowded we when go. The family loves it because we get maximum park coverage and I'm not -retentive about it.

I decide which parks I'm going to ahead of time just so that there's no arguments when I'm there. Once I'm in the parks, we just go with the flow. Start on one side and work our way to the other. If we have time, we'll go back and do some rides multiple times, others we just skip (to my dismay because I HATE skipping anything at WDW!)

We plan what park on what day. The rest is up in the air. It's suppose to be a vacation and not something to stress over. Behinds you really can't plan everything because you don't know crowd sizes, wait times, etc.

Apart from if I wish to see a night show at Magic Kingdom when they are only running on designated days I see how I feel in the morning, head to that park and make it up from there.

I'll work around the times of shows and get some of the rides that are quiet in the moring out of the way, but that's about the extent of my long term planning.

My "plan" always includes MK the 1st day, EPCOT the 2nd, MGM the 3rd, and AK the 4th along with going back to EPCOT. Since we have been staying 5 nights starting in 2000 we generally will decide between the MK or EPCOT (I love EPCOT the most) for the 5th and last day. We do not visit any parks the day we leave--the 6th day so to speak. If I make it to 29 September (my heart is racing already) we are staying 8 nights--my all-time dream, other than being a CM. My wife is already asking about going shopping and doing other things besides WDW. Can you believe it?

Being a veteran so to speak, I check the guide for parade and fireworks times and then go from there to get what FastPasses we need, when and where we are going to eat, and when to take a break back to the resort. Being too "planned" ruins the experience for me. If we miss something, we can always go back later during our stay or on the next visit. My wife just noted we have been to WDW 3 times in 13 months.

The shopping gene runs deep in the genetics of the female

You got a problem with that? :D

(3 days in WDW...tee shirts, nighties, jewelry, CDs, hot chocolate mix, light up magic wand, picture frames, hat, pins, stuffed Sorcerer Mickey & Safari Minnie, magnets, snowglobe...)

Well I voted for plan, but thats with a lot of free time built in, not scheduling each 1/2 hour. We make dinner plans and special event (Hoop de do, tours etc) then we determine which park, sometimes but not always with early entry, then determine if we are going to do parades, shows, fireworks, then mix in a few must do rides, then just go with the flow the rest of the time.

Usually before we leave for WDW, I've made whatever PS arrangements we need for the trip. Other than that, I have to follow a schedule all school year, I DO NOT want to follow a schedule on my vacation. It's great not hearing a bell to tell me I have 3 minutes to get to the faculty bathroom before my next class.

we plan which parks we go to, but don't use a touring plan. we find it more fun to just meander around the parks, hitting the rides we are most interested in, and catching those with little or no wait. so i guess that's a little bit of playing it by ear :p
