Do you think Grand Floridian would be a good fit?

We tried the Grand Floridian one time and we didn't really think it was such a great resort. We really enjoy the Beach/Yacht because of their proximity to the parks and their awesome pool and the Wilderness Lodge because it is very beautiful and it's closeness to the Magic Kingdom. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks to a DVC friend of ours, my wife and I have stayed at the GF, BW & Saratoga Springs…I wouldn’t call the deluxe resorts “stuffy”, I call them “frou-frou”. This is just MY opinion, for the amount of time we spend in the actual room/resort, I just can’t justify the additional cost. I WILL say, however, that both GF & BW were beautiful resorts and if I had to make a choice, just for the convenience of transportation, I’d take BW…

Be Sure to check out the Evermore resort which is 197 for a two bedroom currently and 600 something for a house that sleeps 12 with a private pool attached. I believe they just opened.

Again, speaking for just my wife and I, if we’re going to Disney, we’re staying on property…if we can’t afford a moderate, we move down to a value (which I’d rather be at)…if we can’t afford that, we wait another year.

Adults only just my sister and myself.

We love Poly but want to take advantage of the 35% room rate discount and Poly is only 10% off.
Basically we would be paying $100 more per night for Poly than we would for GF!

While we have been trying to make it a point to try new resorts I'm just iffy about whether GF is too "stuffy".
We considered AKL but we really love the monorail resorts for MK, like Capt. Cook's and would like to go to Trader Sam's and those things would be much easier if staying at GF.

So I'm just wondering... is GF good for adults that would appreciate a relatively quieter more relaxed resort experience but still want to feel like you're in the magic?
Is it "stuffy" feeling or more like "Disney luxury"?
We stayed at GF one time just to have that experience. I doubt we’d stay there again. It was so nice being at a Monorail resort and also within walking distance to our Fav park. But we just didn’t feel comfy there. We would do a split stay though at either Poly or the Contemporary for a few days, then move on to a moderate. I’d try it on time though if I were you.

My wife wants to stay at the Poly, and I’m sure we’ll eventually get there…we’ve been in the Contemporary to eat many times…the 60’s modular design just reminds me of a $500/night Motel 6…at least POP has great theming…
