Do you think Disney would take the original soarin' song out of the new movie?

One would hope not. The late and dearly missed Mr. Goldsmith's contribution to Soarin' Over California was certainly its greatest aspect.

That being said, it was composed for the original film with specific sync points and it may not be exactly suitable for the new footage if it doesn't follow the timing of the original.

I know, I hope they work the new video around the song, I love the song.

No it was written specifically for the film and editing a new film to fit the old score would limit the creativity of the filmmakers.

It is conceivable that they would write a new arrangement of the same themes and I think it there's a good chance of that happening. However when similar redos have happened elsewhere (say spaceship earth) a entirely new score has been written. So hard to say.

I would certainly hope the original song would stay.......it's a big part of why I love Soarin' so much.

And it's so fitting that it could be used for any film they show for this attraction. It's not a musical score that is necessarily tied to just this part of the world.

Actually, I think they should keep the music as-is, and instead of one new film, put out about 5 so that way you never know which experience you're going to have...........similar to what they do with Star Tours.

I absolutely love the music but I hope with the new movie comes new music. With the extra theater I'm hoping that during Soarin anniversaries WDW could show the original version for a limited time. Imagine the lines for that if it was standby only in 1 theater only after having been gone for years.

The score is the only part of the "ride" I truly love, everything else I find just okay. If they change it, I hope that the new film is good enough to keep me coming to Soarin'.

This.

As much as I enjoy the current Soarin' track, it's beyond crazy to think that they'd shoehorn a new production into the old track. It's more than just the timing of the song. It's the style of each section, with big dramatic sound for the flight over the aircraft carrier, or the western section with the three horsemen riding. Each scene of the current show is matched by the theme of the music. A new movie would have to match these themes, and there's just no way that Disney will limit itself that way.

I kind of wish they were re-imagining the ride to where each time you ride it it's a different experience.. Like Star Tours... This is the kind of attraction that could actually really use this effect! Fly over London, New York, Florida, California, Canada, Hawaii, whatever... It would certainly add a lot to the returning-experience rather than just the same old clip used over and over again. This attraction CRIES for this effect.

I've been worrying about this myself. I'm a big fan of the late, great Jerry Goldsmith, one of the best composers of the last half-century, and I think his Soarin' theme is some of his best work. From Wikipedia:
"It was later said that when Goldsmith first rode the ride, he left in tears and said, "I'd do anything to be part of this project. I'd even score the film for free."

I'll say this - now that Disney owns Lucasfilm, and John Williams is working for them, scoring the third Star Wars trilogy, I would be happy to see him asked to expand and adapt his late friend's score to a new version of Soarin'. I'm sure Jerry would have liked that. Aside from John Williams, the only other composer today whom I think could possibly follow Jerry's work (assuming that Disney doesn't abandon the original score altogether, which would be tragic), might be Michael Giacchino, who has composed several great Pixar scores, including my personal fave, The Incredibles.

I agree completely and I have been thinking that ever since ST premiered.
