Looking back, I should have said 'in a mug in the food court at the All Stars', then hack the security cameras and watch the carnage unfold. Or at least see a few hopefuls checking mugs, trying to go unnoticed. ("you never know...")

Hmm...maybe worth a try on that other forum I frequent...
Look up Geocaching. People have set up treasure hunts using gps coordinates. There are hunts all over the world and some have taken place at WDW. Your $$$ would have been something they would have fun finding.

DO IT!

And hook that camera feed onto a live stream via YouTube so we can all watch!
🤓

I’m tellin’ ya folks…this will be THE hottest streaming trend since we all watched the live stream of the fist fight between two adults for a plastic tumbler at the Emporium on WDW’s 50th…!
😁

Wait…
Why do I now suddenly have the mischievous urge to try this when I am there at the All Stars in three weeks….?

Florida is the one place I buy bottled water. I don't care if it's been through a Britta filter; it's still nasty water. Disneyland I bring my own refillable bottle. That ain't happening at WDW.

I agree! I drink water all day from a reusable water bottle when I'm at home. But when I'm at Disney or anywhere in FL, I will only drink bottled water. I prefer bottled spring water but I dislike the FL water so much that I'm willing to drink Dasani in the parks. I cannot stand the taste of FL water -- filtered or not. And I want good cold plain water to quench my thirst -- I don't want to add a Crystal Light or whatever packet of flavoring exists to help with the taste. I just want refreshing cold water that tastes good. I can tolerate the sodas and teas at the food courts/restaurants because the taste is more hidden *and* because I only drink those things with a meal which also helps to cover the FL water flavor. We bring 1 or 2 cases of water with us to Disney (we drive), but those are mostly for in the room and we might carry one with us as we leave the room to go to a park but we go to the parks bagless, so we don't carry water with us for the day. We just look at the cost of water in the parks as part of our overall expense -- the extra $100-$150 is insignificant in the overall cost of the trip. I'll skip going out to eat a few times during the "saving for vacation" period rather than lug around water in a backpack full of ice and water bottles all day in the 100 degree heat.

And just to stay on topic, I would never take any of the food/drinks that people leave out in the hallway or in the vending area.

We carry water into the parks, but if it is a summer trip, about 1/3 is gone in 90mi, and the 2nd third is consumed within 3 hours.

It would be rather pointless to lug it around all day in 100-degree heat, no?;)

(Lunch is often when I get more to drink, then summer usually = taking a break by 3pm)

People giving you paper FP's, or anything else during your trip that is non edible or drinkable would not contain anything that could make you sick or worse. People for the most part are generous and helpful to others at Disney and accepting things non consumable that would do no harm is not relevant to the OP's question. We are talking about food and drink that could possibly be tainted. Taking a chance that something found in a hallway or given to you by a stranger could be very bad for your well being.

Every time I see posts of people leaving stuff, it's always big untouched multipacks of bottled water and I wish people would stop buying them, you don't need them. You can get free ice cold water at your resort soda fountain in the food court, you don't need to buy a Disney refillable mug for the water to work, there's a little button under the Minute Maid Lemonade that say 'water'.

Bring each person a refillable water bottle (and even a big empty soda bottle to fill and keep in the room fridge) and get the free water in the morning and evenings from there and you can even refill them in the parks at dedicated water bottle refill stations and self serve soda fountains (Cosmic Ray's, Connections, Sunshine Seasons, Backlot Express, Satu'li Canteen, Restaurantosaurus) or ask as CM to fill at any quick service counter.

This reduces plastic waste, saves money and then not having to worry about how to dispose of your unused crate of 30 plastic bottles of water.
Or, and hear me out here, 1) a case of water is like 5 bucks and your not saving much with your "free" resort fountain soda, and 2) i can get a drink when i wake up in the middle of the night, or when i am watching tv and the kids are asleep in the hotel, and not have to go downstairs to the resort food court?

You can do all that with the tips I just gave you. Take several empty water bottles with you or a massive jug should you have one, fill them at the filtered and chilled soda fountain, you don't need to pay for a resort mug to use the water, so not sure why put free in quotations, and take them back to your room and put them in the fridge. Saved you $5. I generally buy a Sprite or two during the day and keep the bottles in my backpack and when I get off the bus in the evening, I head to the food court and fill them up and then head to the room. No going back to the food court at night when the kids are sleeping. Minimal effort.

I posted this elsewhere too and was told several times the Disney Soda Fountains don't have water, but yes, yes they do. So here it is if anyone didn't know.

wait, so rather than just having green grocer/new equivalent deliver like a 5 dollar case of water to my hotel or if i drove bring the water and soda bottles with me, i am going to be looking around for a bunch of empty water bottles to go down to the cafeteria and fill up? Or a massive jug? Like i am bringing a 5 gallon thermos on my vacation for our hotel room and filling it up and then everyone in the room drinks out of it community style? And lets talk about the fun of coming down from the Xth floor to the cafeteria every time you want to fill up. Yeah, hard pass.

That's fine, you do you. Getting sassy over someone posting money saving tips which some people would be very grateful for is a bit odd 🤷‍♂️ Scroll on by if you don't like it.

I didn't finish my story. I ate the FP's.

We're usually there in June, so it's HOT. We actually bring smaller bottles of water (Deer Park 12 oz) for our room and going to the parks because once that water gets warm, we don't want it -- it's not refreshing. So we typically consume the whole bottle in about 30 minutes at most. Then we buy what we need in the parks. And like you, we'll get water at lunch and then we are usually back in the room in the afternoon and can drink our own water again. Even though we buy the water we need/want in the parks, it's really not that much. Sometimes I think people think they'll need to buy 10 bottles of water per person in a day. We usually buy 2 or 3 between my husband and I -- and we'll share a bottle so that we can consume all of it while it's cold rather than each of us getting our own bottles, drinking 1/2 the bottle, and throwing away the rest of it because it got too warm from carrying it around.

And yep, it's pointless (to me) to lug around a backpack full of water bottles and ice all day because the heat is going to melt the ice within a few hours anyway and then the water will start to warm up. All that extra weight will just make me sweat more and need to consume more water. And I'm not a pack mule. :)

I took my sister last year and she was all over the facebook groups for this. Basically every resort has a group for giveaways. Our first week at pop we saw listings for week old strollers (just the cheapest ones from walmart), random foods (mostly bottled water, cans, etc but a few 'boxes of wine' were there too), pillows/bedding, kids costumes, ears, and random window decorations (we were there in May so assume a lot of it was the end of the cheer comps).

We moved over to Saratoga for a second week, again similar sort of thing but the level of tat people were throwing out was slightly higher. Couple of strollers worth ~$150 each, a kids collapsible crib, a set of pots and pans for some bizarre reason, and again lots of food.

We weren't interested in any of it, but things were snapped up pretty quickly so there must be a pretty big market for it.

For some things I get it, depending on where you're coming from it probably is cheaper to just pop to walmart or target and buy a cheap stroller or whatever, and makes no sense to take home. Things like food and open suntan lotions though would be a hard no from me.

I'm firmly in the camp of 'why the hell do you need to buy a crate of water'. Get a damn brita bottle and refill it, it makes no sense to lug around water everywhere when you can refill a bottle.

Some people buy those expensive strollers on Craigslist or FB marketplace or a yard sale/mother's market for a reduced price with the intention of only using them for their Disney trip and then leaving them behind. Those people typically have super expensive strollers at home that they don't want to get damaged, stolen, lost, etc. on a Disney trip so it's worth the money to buy a used "disposable" stroller for the trip. And that's also often cheaper than renting a "good" stroller for the week.

There are people who literally sit in a parking lot at Disney waiting for those posts where people are leaving behind the strollers, cribs, pots & pans, etc. As soon as they see the post, they head to the resort to grab the stuff and take it home to sell it.

I agree with the not lugging around a case of water in the parks, but as far as a Brita (or any refillable) bottle for water, some of us don't want to carry even that around. If it doesn't fit in a pocket or a small phone pouch (that fits in a pocket), it stays in the room. :)
