I have had so many people tell me that they hated the program and then I've had so many people say that it's absolutely thrilling. I'm definately excited that I got accepted as an operations cast member... but I'm so nervous about the whole thing and I'm so overwhelmed and excited at the same time... Just an opinion thread... do you guys like it or not? and why? Thanks a million :)

I LOVED it!! It was the best time of my life! I didn't always love my job, but it was ok. I am hoping to do another CP (fall 2006) and this time I'm hoping for entertainment or operations. Then after I graduate, I want to work at Disney full-time. I think the CP depends on what you make of it. If you have a bad attitude about your job, of course you're going to hate it. But if you can make a good attitude about your job, I think you'll find you'll at least get through your CP.

I enjoyed my program to an extent. I loved working for Disney. But I wasn't thrilled with being on the college program. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had gone earlier in my college career. But I decided to wait until after I graduated. And at that point, I had enough of roommate drama, friend drama, going out and getting hammered every night, etc.

Would I go back and for for Disney again? In a heartbeat, but CP never again. I certainly recommend it to anyone. It's still a great experience, and you'll meet friends you'll keep for a life time.

I've done the CP once and it was an amazing experience. I'm going back down for another program this Spring 06 program in Entertainment. I can't wait to be back "home."

I think it also depends on your role/location. Operations is one of the best jobs. It'll probably depend upon your location. If you get Fantasyland Attractions (for an example) you may not enjoy it as much as Space Mountain. But make the best and enjoy the people, and you'll love it.

Thanks guys for your input... I'm cast in operations... I'm really excited about it.

I think that I forgot to mention that I'm 17 and turning 18 just in time to go to the Spring Advantage Quarter program. I can't wait... I'm so nervous and excited at the same time... but I mean I'm turning 18 in feb and moving down there in march... it seems like an eternity to wait.

I got into college a year early and knew about the program @ WDW, but didn't know anybody who had done it or had thoughts about it. That's another reason that I appreciate all of you guys' feedback. Anybody else have anything to add? Anything and everything is appreciated! :)

The program really is what you make if it. (It's a cliche, but most cliches get used so much because they're true.)

When you're not working, get out and see what you can find. Explore the parks on your own sometimes. One day on my CP that sticks in my mind is going to AK by myself and getting caught in the rain. I ended up taking refuge on the train to Rafiki's and took my time poking around over there. It was almost empty on the train and at the pavilion. Nothing fantastically exciting, but I still remember it.

I LOVED my CP...like said before its what you make of it. Make the most of the time you have there. Alot of the people i knew that didnt like their CP was due to the fact they didnt do anything. They would work and never leave the apartment. Go to the parks...and SAVE some of your money...yeah i came back with 200 less than i went down with...oops

But its a great program...(im going back this summer for alumni...and I just got hired as a campus rep) you do get looked down on by full timers...and the hours yeah they suck! EMH are the worst...im sorry standing on the tomorrowland bridge till 3 am is a bit much

if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

I loved my EMH shifts! Those were SO much fun. Then again, I did them at Epcot when we closed at 12 opposed to your 3 AM at the MK.

I would work 8:30 AM - 12:30 AM at the Seas (or combo with Soarin) and it would be a blast. Guests seemed so much more relaxed then and are in good spirits.

I signed up for those kinds of shifts, they didn't hand those out. I'd work either morning or night and I'd tell them I'd stay the whole day. So, don't worry, you shouldn't ever be scheduled that.

Nah...I hated it...:animwink: :p

I just did a Spring 2003 program, then went seasonal and worked over winter break 2003, then worked over summer break 2004, and did the summer alumni program Summer 2005.

Seriously, it's a great experience. But if you look at it in a pessimist perspective, then you're not going to have fun. Always look on the bright side of life *whistles*

I HATED doing EMHs. The only extra shifts I picked up were PAC shifts. They were the BEST!! I ended up doing Main Street (day and night), Tomorowland (night), Frontierland (day and night), and MGM PAC, as well as Fantasmic! That was the best.

Don't knock Fantasyland Attractions until you try it. It's not that bad, a more little hectic and stressful, but still just as good, if not better, than other attractions. :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

I loved both my Programs. TiggersPooh and I had a blast over in T-land this Summer. EMH are not so fun, but at least I never got stuck on the Bridge, ever. PAC was fun, only got to do it a few times and never had the chance to sign up for more. It was good to do something different from your normal job.
My first time there I had a roommate who loved Disney and vacationed there all the time, so we'd always go out around Property and explore all the resorts and what not.

I've been cast in Operations... what should I expect when I finally get down there in march? What kind of seminars do I have to go through before I find out where I'm cast specifically in the park? Does the interviewer have anything to do with all of this casting stuff? Because I think she asked me if I would like to do something like parking lot or outside with not much guest interaction and I said absolutely not. Ugh... I just have so many questions. I just want to make sure that when I get there, I'm not overwhelmed and crash and burn.

When you get there, you are just assigned a role. If you end up at MGM Studios, you can call a number for a small interview and they will place you somewhere based on that. Thats what my RnRC friends got to do.

Otherwise, they'll just put you somewhere. So, you could end up in the parking lot or as a park greeter. I did Ops on my program and walked up to the table on day 2 and directed me to Epcot Future World table and my schedule was for the Living Seas.

they just assign you...there is no way to know where you are going to work.

I was told Tomorrowland Attractions...

then two days later i learned which attractions in tland i was going to work

Um...I was told when I had my second interview what I'd be doing and where exactly I would be working...
Then they confirmed it when I got there. But my job's a secret...shhh!
