Do You Encourage Others to Go to Disney?

I find myself having to shut down the people that get a "holier than thou" attitude or almost starting making fun of me going back to Disney.

Usually, I'll just say something condescending and they shut up. I'm sick of people acting like they know what's best or what I choose to do with my money is somehow inferior.

If people are exciting and want to ask questions, I'm happy to answer and help. If they start asking why I am going again or I should go to Cancun instead, I just end the conversation.

What time is best go to Disney and what is best thing to do
There thanks for help everybody
I like going mid to late Sept. Still nice enough for the water parks, and not bad crowds. As far as the best thing to do there..... That's all in the eye of the beholder

Disney is not the only place we go, but it is my favorite, and everyone who knows me knows this. I don't try to sell Disney because the truth is it is not for everyone and that's ok. I can see why certain types of personalities don't like it. If someone asks, then I am thrilled to give advice! I have a lot of coworkers and there's always somebody going each summer and they always tell me when they're going.

Even though I've been to other places, I always enjoy Disney World the most. I'm very excited for our upcoming trip. My nephew, who's not even 5 yet, said "Boo Disney" recently. I wasn't there when it happened, but my younger sister told me about it.

Ahhh... he must be hearing that from mom or dad. :(

I am definitely in the closet, so to speak. When I do talk about it, it's usually a tone like, "well. . . We're taking our daughter to WDW," as opposed to "I am going myself, kiss my Butte* and the fact that I have a five year old is inconsequential to my enjoyment of the trip."

Actually, having kids makes it a lot more fun, I shouldn't say that.

I've always assumed that I get snide Disney comments because I'm single with no kids & love/visit Disney a lot. Glad to know others get comments too even with families....solidarity! :)

You should try it when you're 65, single and traveling alone. I never noticed any problems in the parks because of the fact is no one knows if you are by yourself or just separated from your group. People I happen to tell that I'm going do kinda of look at me like I have three heads, but, that is their problem.

Please start using punctuation. I've seen a bunch of your posts since you joined and they are all very difficult to read.

Thanks and welcome!

Yes, I helped one co-worker with his recent trip and my new supervisor is wanting me to help him plan a trip with his family. Also, another co-worker/good friend is my next conversion in progress. He's really into running marathons so I'm using that as a tool to get him down there.

I wouldn't say I encourage people, but I'm definitely open about talking about my visits and am happy to help with planning. Not everyone is going to be a Disney fan, and Disney certainly doesn't need my help recruiting anyone. Of course, I stopped doing so after several futile attempts to show my extended family why I appreciate Disney. :D

I also don't volunteer to help people plan their Disney trips anymore. Now I wait for them to come to me. I figure if they approach me first, then they're more likely to be truly interested in my perspective.

If someone says they are going I will give them some suggestions. Otherwise I don't really encourage people to go. Parks are crowded enough...

I encourage everyone who comes to Florida to check out Disney and Uni (but more so Uni ;)). If you've been to one and not the other, I suggest that people visit the other. Really, though, I think that anyone who can afford the trip to either resort should go at least once. The challenge is censoring myself from making trip-ruining, critical assessments of either resort (yes, I can criticize Universal as well as Disney).

If no hurricanes this year, we are heading that way in February of next year. Uni!!

I try not to, everyone knows how much I love WDW, so I'm not sure how unbiased they would feel my recommendation is (and they're probably sick of hearing me talk about it). If anyone needs help planning a trip though, I am always more than happy to help (especially if I don't have a current trip planned, it helps ease the pain :D).

I used to encourage people now I don't and here is why: A co-worker after hearing how I had so much fun when I went decided to go. I gave him a few tips, places to eat , and things to see and was excited to hear how he made out when he and his family came back. He hated it. I suggested a food place which I liked. He hated it. I asked if he went to any of the night show fireworks, Fantasmic, etc..."NO". Did he go on RnRollercoaster...NO. Then I asked what did he do? "Sat by the pool and drank beer." He went throughout my workplace and told everyone he had a terrible time. Now I just keep my mouth shut.
