Do You Encourage Others to Go to Disney?

Honestly...yeah i guess i do! I'm just full out Disney, and want people to experience as much fun i have there! I ususally end up with the same old line, too, "Disney is not just for kids! There's stuff for everyone!" and, while i try not to, end up incorporating "Eh don't go to uni disney is so much better", and things along those lines.

Personally, I would never tell someone not to go to Uni. As much as I love WDW, Uni has a lot of unique and good things to offer. My feeling is that if Disney is as good as I think it is, it will stand on it's own and doesn't have to be completely worried about the competition. Everyone should be allowed to make up their own minds about stuff like that. I would say, "I don't enjoy Uni as much as I do Disney, but, many do. If you get the time you should consider at least a day at Uni!"

Yah, I didn't mean it as in I don't think uni is worth anything, i just meant i think that for a first time family (or just individual) trip to a theme park they should visit disney because i have of course spent full days at both a lot of times and always have more fun at disney. But lets not turn this into a Uni vs Disney....

I'm not going to turn it into that and that is why I worded it the way I did. I agree that first timers might want to spend their time at Disney depending on the length of their stay. However, I would never discourage it either. I like to let people make up their own minds about things. We are all different and our likes and dislikes are different. There is no reason to not talk about how important and satisfying that Disney is to you, but, again I would never tell someone not to go generally, maybe just not to go on the first trip.

Oh HECK yeah.

And when they take my advice, and they go, they're always glad they did. :)

(But I'm also hyping Universal to people. I tell them, "It's not what you think, it's not imitation or second-rate Disney, it's truly amazing in a totally different way." If they're still doubtful, I mention the Harry Potter attractions, and that seems to interest them. My niece went there last year on my recommendation, and she and her parents loved it. Score!)

Of course I do!

I am known as the Disney Fanatic at work and in most of my social circles! Some people get my love for the mouse and others can't understand why I love the place so much.

I will plan people's trips when they are going for the first time and try to give them realistic expectations. Like @Magenta Panther mentioned, I do tell them of other fun places in Orlando like Discovery Cove, Sea World, and Uni.

I DO encourage SOME people that I work with to go however most cannot afford to so I really try not to shove it in their faces.

I encourage those I think would like "our thing" and can afford it to go to Central Florida.

If they can't I suggest Disneyland Paris.

Very interesting question. Short answer is yes. However, most folks just usually see the excitement and love that I have for Disney in my daily life, and so lots of folks generally solicit my opinion on different things Disney. Of course at that point I am happy to give my opinion!

I get all the same reactions. It can be very frustrating at times when people try to make digs at me. But the thing is, I don't walk into work and just start talking Disney. I am doing my job and it's other people who feel the need to bring the topic. I can't help it if I start casually talking about stuff. Then they get 'bored' or can't believe I go so much. I go once a year. I don't smoke, don't drink, don't gamble, don't buy expensive iphones and designer clothes, am single, rent an apartment, have a job where I can pay for my end of the trip. If going to Disney is what I want to do, then I have every right to do it. And I rather go to Disney and do stuff than go on a cruise and...lounge and drink (no offense to the cruise people...I know that's a hypocritical statement).

ANYWAY....

I too am surprised with how little people know. Disney hasn't just been a Theme Park in years upon years. So to hear a random guy just say 'I have no interest in going because...kiddie rides' it bothers me. There are so many things guy can do there that doesn't involve 'Small World' and princesses. But hey, I can only say too much to try and convince them otherwise. If it's not your thing, that's ok. One less person in line for me.

My co-workers always ask , "Are you going to Disney again this year?". I have to answer no, but hope to go maybe next year.:( If they come to me and ask me for advice about Disney, then I'm happy to share. Otherwise, I don't offer any information.
My sister in law hated Disney, but just went there last weekend for a cheerleading competition. They stayed at All Star Sports, and had a wonderful time! They only went to MK, and she was mesmerized at the castle show before WISHES. I told her a lot has changed for the better since she last went maybe 14 years ago!:D My niece actually cried she said after WISHES was over. I told her, now she's got a Disney "addict" on her hand.;) Time to start planning a vacation to Disney in 2015 instead of Myrtle Beach!:p

I get the "what is there to do" and "too many kiddie rides" answer all the time. Not true and who cares if the rides are for kids?

Ask almost any person and being a kid again is a pretty nice thought.

hmmm..I kinda spend very little time discussing Disney with anyone in my circle except maybe SIL and niece who are fans of Disney and would go all the time if money wasn't an object. I did recently discover one of my customers parents retired and moved to Orlando and he works at Pecos Bills and she works at BOG..so that was kind of neat to share some experiences.
I've found some friends and family are kind of annoyed about my frequent trips to WDW...I get a lot of the : "Oh you going to Disney again?"o_O

I have some friends that went to Disney when they were three and have never been back because they don't remember it being that great. I try to tell them that first of all, they were three and probably don't remember anything well, and they really need to give it at least one more shot. Preferably with me so I can show them WHY it's so great.
