Do you bring camelbacks to the park with you?

I don't see a need for it in the parks. The fountains are usually in the sun all day with delicious Florida tap. Just ask for ice water at any quick service location. The only time I use a camelbak is during music festivals.

Side note: The camelbacks kind of gross me out. No way would I want to share a straw w my whole family. Is there a way to clean them each day? I don't really know much about them, other than what I have seen in the parks, but it doesn't appeal to me. just saying, I'd rather go get a drink as needed.

Yes there are ways to clean them, but any more than giving the bite valve a wipe over there is no need to do so each day.

Can't see what the problem is with sharing it with your family.......I bet you keep your toothbrushes in close proximity to each other.

IMO, there is no need to bring anything like that into the parks. We will always each bring in a bottle of water in with us. When that is gone we will go up to the QS stands and get the free ice water they provide. Sometimes we drink it right there and sometimes we refill our water bottles and move on. Throughout the years we have toured more lightly each visit.

My wife is very sensitive to the taste of water and has no problems with the filtered QS water. It is definitely different tasting than the water fountains.

Well, I am a bit of a germ a phobe. self - admitted and my husband loves me anyway. We don't keep our toothbrushes near each other at home and when we travel I don't allow my family to leave them out at all. I actually don't leave anything out even over lengthy stays...shampoo, conditioner, razors etc., After last person is done in the restroom I give it a 'once over' so housekeeping can also give it a once over...whether they do or not I have no idea, but it puts my mind at ease.....and drives my family crazy all at once. Unfortunately, I am not like Anna and Elsa and I cannot 'Let it go'. lol

I have never used a camelback, no idea how they work, I've just seen people wearing them in the park. I was thinking more along the lines like the Keurigs...how do you clean the tube the water flows down through to get a drink? the bite valve? We have hard water in our area and I just wondered about calcium and lime build up over time. Can you replace the tube? Do you really have to 'bite' on it to make the water flow? just curious.

It is a silicone bladder that you fill with water that has a hose at the bottom. Open the valve at the end of the hose and gravity causes the water to flow out.

You can flush it with water or your cleaning solution of choice. However, as long as you do not store water in them for long periods of time or put something like Gatorade in them there is really noting to clean. The main thing you do is simply keep they dry when in storage to avoid any mold. They make drying rack and cleaning kits just for this purpose.

the bite valve?
Can be cleaned and/or replaced.

It is not really an issue. Hard water build up takes thousands upon thousands of gallons passing over a surface to buildup to any measurable degree.

Can you replace the tube?
You can replace every part.

Do you really have to 'bite' on it to make the water flow? just curious.
You can just squeeze it to open it, but it is designed to be bit and sucked on like a straw.

Thanks. Seems pretty straight forward. I had no idea how they worked. I still wouldn't want to bring one into the park, but, that is because I just don't like to carry things around in the parks.
