Do we have a plan YET?! May 2013 Pre-Trip Report

Hey, my lovelies!

As Rafiki said – “It is time”.

For what? For another fam-jam trip to the World, of course!

For those of you who don’t remember (or didn’t know in the first place), I’m Kenzie. I’ve done several trip reports on WDWM. My most recent report was my Mexican Riviera cruise on the Disney Wonder last February, wherein I had the worst flu but the best friends, and a sparkle dress. Sound familiar?

We had an excellent time on the Wonder, but it’s time to go back my original Disney “roots” – in more than one sense. This trip, we’ll be spending the bulk of our time at Disney – finally! It’s my first trip since 2009 that I haven’t cruised for a portion. While I love to cruise, it’s time to do the flat-out, feet-hurt, get-the-same-pictures-as-last-time trips.

We’re also back to the “original” cast – meaning we’re doing a family-only escape to the World! We’ve been going since I was six and my sister, Carly, was two.

We’ve done many, many trips since then. We went we grandparents, Mom and Dad go alone, I go with my friends, Carly goes with Mom and Dad and our family friends..

We’re the crazy Disney family, but as I told the cashier that commented on my “Disney purse.. and wallet.. and keychain..” at the grocery store the other day – it’s a lifestyle!

In case you feel that you need a little one-on-one time with the fam before you commit..

Kenzie: That’s me! I’m 23, and currently working through my Bachelor of Education degree in New Brunswick, Cananananada. I graduated last year with a BA in Psychology – *hairflip* so educated. I’m all about working with kids, and I work at My Gym, a children’s fitness centre (despite being the most accident prone person in the world). My Twitter description sums me up pretty well: “Golf, BEd, naps, shoes, Cape Breton, and Disney”.

Mom and Dad: Married 30 years, travel companions, and all-around great people. Do they drive me crazy sometimes? Yes. Do we love them anyway? Absolutely. Dad’s all about the big rides, and Mom’s right on board – though she’d be equally happy sitting with a coffee and people-watching.

Our fam-fav park is Hollywood Studios that can be whittled down to two main reasons: The Tower of Terror and Starring Rolls. Some things never change, and this is one of them.

This trip has already been a little different than past trips. While we’ve had our flights since November (Dadder booked them through airmiles), we didn’t have a hotel until.. well, I mean, we have to get a hotel sometime, right? We’re staying on Disney, most likely at Pop Century, We were hoping for better deals, but now we have family things to settle before we “book book”..

When we sent in Carly’s passport renewal it got rejected. OH NO! No big deal, she turned 18 since her last passport, so you have to reapply. Which would be fine, if we could find her birth certificate (which we can’t).. So sometime this week, Dadder and C are off to Halifax to get a birth certificate and send in her passport application. THE RACE IS ON. WE CAN DO IT.

I’m stressed.

In part because of the passport, but mostly because I like to have things well planned in advance, and it’s just not happening! First we were going to go to Harry Potter World, then Dad was iffy about that and wanted to try Sea World (I’m SO not giving up a Disney day for whales). One thing’s for sure: we’re shopping and…

Dad and I plan on golfing. I’m hoping we’ll play Palm and Magnolia, as I haven’t played either since I was 13 (and thus, desperately hopeless). In 2009 we played Osprey Ridge and LBV, so it’s on the rotation. Dad was actually down in Florida a few weeks ago. He took my boyfriend, Andrew, with him on his man-only golf trip. Annoying! Especially because it was over my birthday – the day they decided to go to Hollywood Studios! Bitter. Still.

On this trip I’m hoping to do a little reenactment photo of one of the old pictures of Carly and I. We have so many pictures from trips, and I have so many frames, that it’s time to switch things up. I think it would be entertaining to re-do a picture and soooo far, this is the winner!

And to top off the TR, we have reservations our first night in the world at Be Our Guest! They’re at 8:30, so we’ll have time to land, clean up, explore Magic Kingdom, and eat. Exciting!

Sounds like you're gonna have a blast! There's been some changes since 2009, so you're in store for some exciting new things! Enjoy BOG! I'd recommend showing up maybe 10 minutes before your reservation time since sometimes they are really busy. That might lessen the wait for your table.

Oh cool, where in NB are you studying? I'm asking because I live in NB! I thought it was so cool there were fellow Maritimers on here, given that you're from NS and Newfiefan of course from Newfoundland. I know, it's sad how awesome I thought that was...I don't get out much hahahaha.

We were cuties, not going to lie. I didn't scan any of the pictures of us in matching outfits, but they are also adorable. Luckily, there seem to be few pictures of "the homely years" around grade 5 where I had no bangs.

We always have a quality time when it's the four of us I've spent a few days here and there since 2009, but not a whole trip, so this feels like a treat. Looking forward to BOG - I'll remember that about our reservation time, thanks for the tip!

I'll definitely have a TR I start school the next day and work 20 hours that week, so it might be a little later than I'd like.. but I love to write them, so I always get them done fast!

I'm in Moncton! I did my undergraduate degree at Mount Allison in Sackville, and now I'm at Crandall (formerly ABU) for my Bachelor of Education. Where are you at! I love it, too - it's not sad! When I foundout that @angieandtrevor was originally from 20 minutes from where I grew up, I was floored! THERE ARE MORE OF US OUT THERE!

I KNOW. Every time you think it's spring, it's like JUST KIDDING. I was doing observations today and kids were either playing on the ice or playing in the mud. Canadian winter/spring transition is just the worst.

Plus I'm deadly pale with serious bruises from work, so I'm going to be a real cute ticket in shorts, hahaa.

May, yes, but WHEN?! You're not the only gal gonna be at da World in May so it's pertinent info. Love love love the throwback pics. Those are awesome! We're definitely looking to do some recreating of old pics, too. That was the goal last year but it didn't happen. If at first you don't succeed, try try again!

Love that you're planning so links time. Tracey's dad is just now gettin' the wind back in his sails from his 2nd run with the big evil C-word. The chemo this time beat him down bad. He's really comin' back to his old self fast. He spotted his clubs in the garage last week and got all excited, ready to get back out and swing some clubs. Golf is a very good thing. Good time for family bonding, exercise, and gettin' some fresh air. If it's possible, can I request you snap a few pics on the course???? I'd love to see!

I'll do my bestest to keep up with all your fun! No promises. Life has all the gang running in different directions these days. Yuck!

Awww you're too sweet! I always feel like trip pictures are a sampling o when you look the *best* because you're always trying to look nice for pictures. Or.. that's what I do. My Disney wardrobe is always significantly nicer than my usual summer duds, so if you don't see us on a daily basis it's probably misleading! I have to look nice and professional for school now, though, so maybe it's a little more accurate..

Can't wait for golf and I'll definitely take some pictures. Glad Tracy's dad has recovered/is recovering. Scary stuff, and it's common on Dad's side of the family so I really just need to live it up while I can, I think. Go with the flow, love your life, and make sure you get lots of magic in!

I'm SORRY! I sad "25 days" but people don't want to do that math, I guess! We leave April 30 and back May 7 (and my spring course starts May 8, eep!). I think you all are later in the month though, right? Rearrange, please.

You would think after all these years of the terrible cold and snow that we would be used to it but I don't think I will ever get used to it. I always say that I was just not meant for this climate, haha !! It has been sooooo long since we have seen the ground, I really hope we are done with all the darn white stuff.

You must be excited that your resort is booked, the next few weeks will fly by. We stayed at Pop in January when we did a last minute trip and it was a great resort (my hubby became BFFs will the bartender at the pool bar, lol). This was our second trip in less than 4 months, I think I have both Trevor and Oliver really hooked !! We are heading back in the fall but that is a REALLY long time away so until then I will live vicariously through my fellow Caper
