I believe that they dont do it on EE days mainly because the people inside the park already that are on MUSA would try to run back to the front to see it, and since some of them might be towards the Ice Cream area (mmmm...Ice cream), by the time they got up there, the breeze ways would be clogged with the people trying to get back to the area....see what Im saying?

I was thinking back to our last trip in Feb 02. We arrived at MK 30 minutes or so before opening and were directed to the end of main street to wait for the rope drop.
Did we miss it? Is it possible it was happening at opening time behind us? Or maybe just didn't run that day.
No early entry program then so that can't be it.

I would really like to see this when we go in ELEVEN days!:sohappy:

On the mornings when MK has EE, does this take place before the park opens to the general public or for EE times?

Well, in February, on our last morning, I went to the MK for EE to fill in the information on the last bunch of windows for my MousePlanet series. I was copying down the information in "the book" at City Hall, when I heard the show over the loudspeakers. They finished and the crowds appeared shortly before I finished my work. I would submit that as evidence that the show does indeed take place on EE mornings, and that it takes place at the general public opening time.

Hope this helps.

It's a fairly new show, I think.

Near as I can figure from the "What's New" archive, the show began November 2002. I do have quite a few pics of this show, but none of them are very good. I might pick the best few of them and post them to my photo album later tonight....if I do, I'll come back and post a link (since IMG is off).

No no no, the show started more or less right after the end of the Y0M celebration which was this year, so Im guessing Feb. Maybe? Ive got a few shots from the opening day of it so I'll check it out when I get home...if I make it home, have to do an inspection on these little rats today. Yeah, they started it back in fall of last year. Here's a bit from the press release that was posted on WDWMAGIC last year: n

11 November 2002: Surprise Sightings, Meet-and-Greets, New Breakfast, More Show Performances This Fall

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- When the steam train whistle blows early in the morning at the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom, it signals the beginning of a new theme park experience with lots of character. Actually, make that lots of characters.

Every day, Mickey Mouse, Donald, Goofy and the rest of the Disney character gang arrive at the Main Street, U.S.A. station aboard the Walt Disney World Railroad minutes before the Magic Kingdom opens, greeting early-arriving guests to a theme park full of character fun like never before. Steps inside the gates, Town Square becomes a joyous scene of cherished Disney characters signing autographs, posing for photos and making guests feel welcome. And throughout the day, more characters meet and mingle with Magic Kingdom guests than ever before.
