do the theme parks have official myspace pages?

Disney doesn't go about making up "official" pages at the website at the moment. Disney has ALL the publicity they need.

I'm glad - that place is dirty (and ruins lives because people are silly enough to fill it with all their personal information and then get hurt over it when they get stalked/lose a job/etc.) and Disney should have no part in it. Not to mention Rupert Murdoch owns it LOL.

wow never knew Rupert Murdoch owned it,news to me lol

Well, to be fair, News Corp. owns it, but Murdoch is the CEO/Chairman.

Sorry if I seemed so snippy about that site, but man, I personally know several people that got into trouble because they posted things they shouldn't have and regretted later. Even after you delete stuff from your profile, it's still been out there on the internet and archived somewhere in many cases.

I just think a lot of people see it all as innocent fun and forget that there is a reason you are taught not to talk to strangers; if you wouldn't walk up to a stranger on a city street and hand them a booklet with all your personal information, names of friends, social patterns, "funny" photos, and all the other info people put up there, then putting it on a website is even LESS of a good idea.

Social networking has it's place, but the amount of information people freely put up about themselves on that one in particular really scares me.

actually. i am "friends" with Walt Disney World on myspace. i highly doubt its official, but all the parks, rides and characters seem to have one. not real of course.

i also agree about the stupidity of some people on that site. i choose not to go overboard. it really can get scary with some of the people that request me...:fork:

Nothing Disney has it's own official MySpace pages. If you have a Disney park or ride as a friend, it is actually a page maintained by a fan of the ride or park. While MySpace does not have OFFICIAL Disney friends, WDW does peruse the MySpace users profiles for any CMs who state they are CMs on their profile, but do not give off the 'Disney Image'. It is a terminable offense from what I have heard.

Also, MySpace gets people into trouble when they put up too much personal info. It's one thing to have your first name and where you went to high school, but I have seen people put up home addresses and phone numbers, which is plain stupid. I personally only have friends I know in real life, bands or people I really love, and a few online friends, people I haven't met in real life but have had prolonged contact with over the internet. And I don't give out any personal information.

I believe that although the parks don't have official pages, they did come out with one to promote Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

I have to admit I'm a myspace member, however my page has very limited info about me and only a few pictures. I agree that some people don't think about who will be viewing their page and they post up WAAAAAY too much info on themselves. But more than anything MySpace is just a popularity contest to see how many friends you have on your friends list. I use to to keep in contact with old friends from highschool as well as some of my friends I've mad while playing MMOs.

Who cares!

Myspace is a waste of space. It's for high school kids and teenagers. Grownups should have other things to do then sit on that cr@p. I mean come on, I have way to much to do then to sit on myspace all the time. I would rather come here for the extra time i have.:D

Thats your opinion, I would agree that Myspace is majority kids, but it does have its uses for grownups. I don't "sit on it" all day but I do use it on a semi weekly basis. I've been able to track down old friends from highschool that I haven't seen in years. People I would otherwise never have any sort of contact with, even with places like Classmates.com. So I wouldn't call it a waste of space..

i rarely use myspace now. i used it mainly to find people from high school that ive lost touch with, and to keep in contact with friends who have moved away. BUT, i did meet my fiance on myspace. if kids are going to be stupid enough to put all of their personal info on there, then so be it. unfortunatly, we cant stop stupidity. back on topic, im going to have to see if i cant find the unofficial walt and mgm pages to check out. something to do!
