My family and I are going from the weekend before Thanksgiving to the weekend of Thanksgiving this coming Fall, and i knew they have the christmas decorations up by then and so i assumed they also had the Osborne Lights running by then. Well i just found out thats not the case and they do not officially turn on until the 30th of Nov. So i was wondering if anyone has ever seen them perhaps "testing" or something before they officially turn on? its one of my favorite things in WDW and i would hate to be THAT CLOSE and miss it.

Yep they usually do a have a few days of soft opening. However, they don't tend to do the dancing or the snow effects during the testing periods.

You are going to be there the same time as us. we leave on Nov. 20 to arrive on the 21st. we are taking the auto train out of Lorton, VA. We were going to leave on the 28th, but decided to stay 2 more days hoping to see the lights also. So it looks like we are cutting it close.

We go the last week of Oct / first week of Nov almost every year, and the lights are usually almost done before we leave. In fact in 06 everything was lit and the music was playing on our last night. As far as resort decorations go, you go to bed Halloween night seeing pumpkins and witches, and wake up the 1st seeing wreaths and trees!
