Do People Get Mad When You Tell Them

Do people get mad at you when you tell them that your going back to WDW? I just made my reservations for Nov. and my friends are upset I'm going back, again. (10 years anniversary, married in DL, honeymooned in WDW!) Funny thing is, none of these people have ever been to the world but, all share the same view that it is Disneyland east. Also, I noticed with co-workers that they seem to travel to the same haunts and unwittingly only recommend these places. Like Mr. why don't you try Hawaii? And when you explain to them that you have and explain to them the perks of WDW they get even more angry and accuse you of living in a Disney themed house and life? Which I only minorly do! But anyways, I'm going back, I don't care what anybody says. I will visit Mexico and, when I get tired, I'll go over to Japan and parts beyond.:sohappy:

Yea my mom always says "why the heck are you guys going to Disney again?" We love going, simple as that. She finds it hard to belive that we dont get board going every year. But with so much to do how can you not find something you have not done.

When I tell people we are going back in Dec some will say sarcastically wow you really like that place. Others are like you can afford that. We love the mouse what can I say. We don't make a lot of money we save thru the year just like a lot of other folks. But it does tend to make me edgy to think they know what best even if they haven't been there.

I have never had anyone get mad, my in-laws use to think we were wasting money going every year. So we just didn't tell them. My theroy is it's my vacation and I go spend my money where I want.
People have no right to get mad just because you like doing Disney over and over again. Just cause they think it's crazy or don't like it, that's their problem. don't let it get you down. My family has just learned to accept our going all the time. (Although, the in-laws have no clue we bought into DVC last year, or that we went twice last year. my mother-in-law would freak)
Maybe next time they tell you were they are going you should find things to complain about that location and tell them why you can't stand that place. LOL
Have fun on your well deserved, hard earned DISNEY vacation!!

People don't seem to get mad - but they just don't understand why two grown adults (me and DH) would choose to vacation in a "tourist trap."

I LOVE Walt Disney World - it's one of my favorite places to go. But I'd still rather take some trips to Europe again and things like that than spend every vacation there.. I think once people realize that, they just think I like to travel and am a kid at heart!

We just went last April around easter and going back this December so just about a year and a half. Coworkers have questioned it, but this is our first time going at Christmas and we are very much looking forward to it! Besides all the different rides and shows there are so many other times of the year to go due to the special activities. I still wanna go back to see Halloween, Flower and Garden show as well the Food and Wine Festival. Realistically it can be different every time you go! :ROFLOL:

I don't think I've ever encountered "anger" so much as "aggressive disbelief".
Once I explain the reality of WDW, I can generally get people to understand though. Most only have hazy memories of going once as a child, and unrealistic expectations of the price. I've done the math, a week's WDW vacation is in many cases cheaper than other "hot spots" around the world (especially if you go in September for the free dining like we did), that usually starts to bring them around before I go into an explanation of the more "grown up" entertainment options there.

I had a friend tell me the other day that she can't wait to have children in a few years so she and her fiance can go too, i responded "NO! You two should go BEFORE you have children! Enjoy it for yourself first, THEN share it with your kids." She seemed to like the idea, so now we're in the early early pre-pre-pre planning stages of doing a trip with them in 2009 or so.

I know what you mean. Some people just don't "get it". Funny how most of the people who make negative comments about our Disney trips have NEVER even been. Or they have been once....during a peak time without doing ANY research, without having any adrs, basically not knowing anything about the place. And they wonder why they did not have a good time.
That is why I am so glad we have this board! We can all be excited for each other, because we all do "get it".

 Yep, every year we get....why are you going back there again? Havent you been enough times? Havent you seen everything? Because we LOVE it, and NO and NO. I just ignore them. I used to go into an explanation of all thats there but gave up. specially the ones that have NEVER been there!! And how would they know??????????:hammer:

I constantly get that from my mother. She doesn't get mad, but she does question why we go back again and again. And she's been to WDW! I'll give her credit for that, at least. WDW just isn't her cup of tea.

But, she does understand in her own way. She keeps muttering stuff about how I will never grow up. And I tell her that's true and that I don't want to grow up. :D

So, westie, keep doing what makes you happy and you can't go wrong.

We try and go twice a year. This year we will be down 5 times total(Jan 07, April 07, July 07 (2 times) and Dec. 07). Our daughter has been to WDW 5 times and she is three. We get the look all the time from people that ask what you are doing for vacation. You get used to the questions. No better place to go than WDW.

33 days until our next trip.:sohappy:

oh.. I feel your pain... the folks around my cubical see all of my Disney photos and we just got back on Sunday and we're already planning our next trip, which is in a long 189 days... they just give the rolling of the eyes...
My response is... Pay me more money and I'll go to Hawaii or some place exotic ...

People who have never been are usually the ones who don't get it.

My cousin tooke her hubby and 2 kids down last week.....they came back talking about how it was the best vacation that they have ever taken.

"Now I know why Eric loves to go so much!" she said.

People ridicule what they do not understand.

My DW and I are going back in Sept. and it will be less than a year since our Honeymoon trip.

We priced it out and with the dining it is actually cheaper than another trip we were considering.

I was expecting a lot of crazy looks when I told people, but most have taken a very positive attitude that if that is what we like then that is great.

My feeling is that there are all sorts of people that go back to places year after year. My best friend lives in SF, CA and he and his wife go to Hawaii every couple of years. It's somewhat affodable because he is already on the West coast.

I would say to people isn't it wonderful that I can go and do what I love while spending quality time with my family.

When you have a really positive attitude I find it shuts down the negative comments.

At my last job, I made sure to go every year. Everybody knew that in November, I was at the World. I have been as many as 6 times in one year. I made those resident passes pay off. Unfortunately, money has been tight, and I just had major back surgery, so my next trip wont be for awhile. I miss my Disney fix. Plus, I'm moving out of Florida as soon as I get the staples out of my back.

Before I drift too far, I got the looks, the comments, people just couldn't beleive that a grown man would want to take his family there so much, would have so much WDW stuff at his desk. It was pretty strange, now that you mention it.

I get "weren't you just there?" Even though it was three years ago.
My mother gets mad because she thinks it is a waste of money.

We get that from my in-laws. They don't get "it" at all. They have been there twice, but just for long weekends. We get "Isn't a week too long?" and "Don't you get bored?" and my favorite "You can get just as good of a hotel outside of WDW" My answers to all of those are No, No and No you most certainly can't. My poor husband used to be under the same impressions as his parents, but his first week-long trip, staying at WDW completely changed his mind.

I don't understand why people WOULD get mad -- afterall, it's not THEIR vacation or THEIR money you are spending. Those people need to get a grip!
My husband and I travel all over the place but there are 3 places that we tend to visit (vacation) on a regular basis...one of them being WDW!

When I bring up going on a WDW trip, my parents always say the same thing, "haven't you had enough of that place." But with enough persuasion and bargaining, I can usually pull off them letting us go for 2 or 3 days. Hopefully I can do the same next year. I can't wait till after high school when I can go whenever I please.
