I will be in the Grand Caymans on vacation the week after Thanksgiving (yeah, it's a rough life, but somone has to live it)

I am flying back on Sunday Dec 5. I knew they were running the Grand Caymans Marathon that weekend, but I did't think much of it until one of the people I am going with brought it up and asked if I was running.

They have a half marathon that starts at 5:00 AM Sunday morning, and my flight is at 2:30 PM. We have to be out of our rooms by 11:00 AM.

I am *this* close to pulling the trigger and entering. My legs can cramp up on the 3 hours plane flight home.

The fact that the finish line is about 200 yards from the ocean, so I can finish, and just keep running right into the Carribbean is appealing. So is the pretty cool Caymans Bling they provide.

I would love to do the 4 person full Marathon relay - that really sounds like a lot of fun, but nobody else who is going is a runner.

So, convince me to do this on the morning before I fly home (really, not much convincing is needed :) )

Of course you should do this! What a cool experience!

I must admit that since I started running last year, my attitude has become more positive and my feelings about any race is "why not, what's the worse that can happen? I don't make to the finish line-Oh Well, at least I had the guts to make it the starting line!"

And I'd be happy to volunteer to be part of your relay team if you want to fly me down for the race.

I'll be your third! LOL! Of course you should do it. Your cramps will work themselves out later, and it will all be worth it then. It's funny, now that I am running I look for events where ever I go, it's great to combine a race into a vacation, makes the vacation more memorable.

Ill be the fourth. You do need a IT Graphic Designer to be on a consult with you right? That is what I thought. We will just expense it. :animwink:

Do it. I did the full and checked out an hour later. Fastest shower ever! Doing a half where you can finish passing out in the ocean sound like a no brainer to me. Do it!

As Nike says, Just Do It!

I ran the TOT13K last year the night before we flew back to NY. I got back to our resort room at 2am, showered, and slept for 3 hours before having to get up to catch our plane. I was exhausted on the plane ride home, but it was worth it. I figure, I can sleep anytime but how often could I run a race at Disney? Same goes for you. Walk around the plane alot to reduce stiffness. What a cool memory to have in your head on the flight home!

You better go for it...that sounds like an awesome race. Plenty of time for the run...shower...check out...catch your plane. By the time you catch your flight, you'll have plenty of time to stretch you legs out and let them cool off.

After the WDW marathon, my DW is going to have to sit in a car for the ride back to CT...and that's an all day ride...and she's doing the Goofy Chalange.
