Hello, all!!

My wife and I just retured yesterday from a wonderful trip to WDW and we noticed the cost of dining seemed quite a bit higher than it has been on some of our past trips. (This is not at all a gripe, just a question!! - We LOVE to eat at Disney!!!)

Do the parks and resorts change different prices for meals based on the season?? (Peak/Regular/Value)

Has anyone else noticed food prices seem higher lately??

Thanks!!!

I've never noticed a fluctuation in prices, just a steady increase over time. You just don't eat at Disney World once a month like you would a local resteraunt, so after a few years, the prices have naturally risen.

I've only found that prices at WDW go in one direction.... UP.

Rather than reduce prices, they'll find another product or service, rather than lower prices.

The prices naturally rise with progression of quarter to financial quarter. I think they may have taken a little bit steeper hike after 9/11. And the prices still may seem a little high. But I went to WDW in January and the prices weren't too too bad. Actually they were better than 6 flags Islands of Adventure

exactly. There is no such thing as cheap food at ANY theme/amusement park. Disney is generally the same price or less than other parks...and disney's food tastes awesome 95% of the time whereas it's about 50/50 at a Six Flags park...

Prices don't go up quarter to quarter. I don't know if that's what you were trying to say. The prices in Jan. 2001 were the same as they were in Jan 2002 for things like burgers, fries, drinks, hot dogs, chicken strips.

No matter what you pay for, the price keeps going up due to inflation.

The prices won't vary, but you may see a jump at certain times if certain things (seafood, crops, etc) that are dependent on a good harvest. Supply and demand & scarcity have a lot to do with that.

As the person who does all of the grocery shopping, I can tell you that a lot of things are extremely expensive right now! Meats are very high; so are fruits (esp. grapes, around here) all of my favorite wines are more expensive, too! Bread prices are up...just all sorts of things. Spices!! I had to replace several spices, and was amazed at how expensive they were! Fortunately, they last a long time, but that makes the "sticker shock" even greater. What I'm trying to say is, market prices influence restaurant prices!

For us Brits the prices seem higher because of the poor exchange rate, but everything is still on a par with home and some things are still cheaper:sohappy:

I don't think the price increase is seasonal, but I know that they were increased between my trips in September and December last year. I don't remember if the parks increased, but I know the food at the resorts and even the Refillable mugs were increased.

Everytime we go my DH complains about the food prices going up and I just tell him "to suck it up". (Actually, I use a more "crude" expression :) )

By now he should be used to it and expect that everything is more expensive at Disney, as well as any other theme park. Unfortunately, there aren't many choices, you gotta eat!

I'm not happy about the prices either, esp. now that we have a very picky 2 1/2 yr old that only takes one or two bites and declares "All done". But we try to take food prices into account when saving for our yearly "vacation fund".

Mom,

I read something last week where wine prices should start to drop cause of an excess stockpile most vineyards have..from wine regaining popularity in years prior...

I hope so....That would be nice.....

Nice? That would be fantastic! I'd be able to refill my wine racks without taking out a loan! ;)

Mom, what types of wine do you drink?

My dad works for Canadaguia so we always have cases of wine around the house lol.

My friends thought it was wierd when I worked Food and Wine Festival cause I already knew a little about wine and I can't even drink yet LOL (legally.. give me 3 months).
