Just a little something to make you think...

We have seen people escorted out of the WCC when they were on the phone and told not to come back until they could leave work behind. :lookaroun

Also, one morning we were waiting for the boat to the MK (at the WL) when a gentleman preceded to have a very heated conversation with one of his workers. His wife was pleading with him to stop or to at least walk away and he refused and, in the process, got angry with her also. This conversation continued while we were loading on the boat and the captain refused to pull away from the dock until he hung up, which he refused to do (Important business, don'tcha know  ). He was escorted off the boat and his family was given the option to go with him, they declined. I'm sure all he heard was the cheers from the boat as we pulled away...the look on his face was priceless.........

:ROFLOL:

Love that story and the fact that they kicked him off!

Once when my mom and I were at WCC for breakfast, I called home to make sure my DH had the kids up and getting ready for school. Our server got my phone, asked who I was talking to and had everyone in there say "Good morning Ashley". THen she said "Wish you were here!"

I have T-mobile and have never had a problem.

I have tmobile and get perfect reception..I consider verizon a stronger network so you should be fine...u may have a tough time in some places in particular (american adventure, and epcot character connection come to mind) but you shouldn't be in a dire emergency to use your cell phone if in an attraction...good luck and have fun.

I agree, Verizon has worked fine for me. I did notice some random problems in some of the resorts (mostly in hallways and random corners and what not - Poly being one of them). But, a quick jaunt outside solved that (and it was MUCH easier to hear everyone). The parks are usually full bars, but it IS really tough to hear! ha ha.

Just remember to turn the ringer down when you are on rides and in shows (especially the shows). Also, and this is a big one... DO NOT forget the phone charger.

Awesome advice. But if you do, they have begun selling those "instant cell phone chargers" at WDE, you know those one-time things you plug into your phone to give it a one-time charge. They had them at the photo center at MGM on my last visit.

I have Cingular/the new AT&T & have some problems here & there. I do believe Verzion is better in the parks from what I heard. As far as cell no no in the parks please silence all phones before entering a ride vehicle or show because you can't hear your phone ring with the Yeti roaring at you while on EE anyways lol. So basicly I put mine on vibe right before I get into the ride vehicle or sit down for a show. This way you don't have the off chance of getting a call while flying over Neverland ect. which may ruin the magic for other gusts.:)

I had AT&T and using our cell at WDW worked well. I used it in our resort and at the parks. It worked just fine. I'm surprised my calls weren't dropped.

What's the point of taking a vacation if you take your cell phone with you? Aren't you supposed to go on vacation to relax, have fun, enjoy whomever your with, without interruptions? I never understood why people take their cell phones with them on vacation. You are on vacation - Right?

My husband and I make a point of leaving ours at home.

There's nothing worse then being in the Most Magical Place on Earth and having to hear someone on their cell phone, especially when the conversation gets loud. I'm sorry but that's not something I enjoy when I'm on vacation.

I was just stating my opinion! I did not intend to upset anyone. Apologies if I did.

Far too often in today's society we forget that not everyone wants to be privy to someone else's personal business and with cell phones people forget to relax and leave the world behind when they go on vacation.

Being written word, we cannot know the tone you are answering in. I will admit that I was upset by your post, but maybe that is the way I imagined you said it (does that make sense?) A :hammer: or a :brick: smiley may have softened it a bit.

We have our phones with us for a number of reasons and none have to do with work (since he isn't that important and I don't work  )...

  1. to stay in contact with the teens when they are off on their own, they have to check in periodically
  2. to move money between bank accounts - just in case :lookaroun that way its a local call and not long distance
  3. we are well over 1200 miles from home and we want to make sure we can be reached quickly (God Forbid) in an emergency
  4. to report the weather to our friends back north when we take a mid winter vacation :drevil:

I believe that may have been an earlier post of mine. Couldn't believe the DH pre-programmed the number into his phone. It worked though, we got seats at the Princess dinner at the Akershus and had to be there in 15 minutes.
