Do away with Fast Pass?

life without FP? NO WAY!

Wow, lot's of good response on this one....Well, here's my two cents..
I cannot live without FP- I wouldn't go if there wasn't ....My only glitch with it is this- I always stay on site, and because of that, I spend MUCH more on hotel, lodging and food than people that stay off site. When the people that stay on site spend all of their money for the week or whatever during the vacation- it ALL goes in Mickey's pocket...YOu can save a boat load if you stay off site. I think only "Resort Guests" and "season pass" members should have access to the FP benefit.
I know that we get EMH, but we all pay ALOT extra to stay on site. Sure I could go stay with my uncle an hour away, and eat breakfast there and bring a sandwich for lunch....... lot's of people do, and all I get is EMH for spending $1000-$1500 more than I could have for staying off site..
I'm not knocking the EMH- it's a life saver and I LOVE it! make em pay more for FP at the gate if they want the benefit.. It's not being cheap- it's practical and it tempts more people to stay on site....:p anyone care to give their opinion on this?

Get rid of it. Not only is it a pain in the ___ for guests but also for CMs with gusts trying to use FP early and not paying attention to which FP they have in their hands (sorry, this is the Tower of Terror, not Little Mermaid.... )

I wish Buzz would lose FP. It makes our Standby wait insane if merge gets backed up. And it does.

On those crowded crazy days, we easily could handle the crowds if FP wasn't there giving out 120 tickets for every 5 minute increment.....

Without FP it would be detestable ;). You would waste so much more time waiting around rather than enjoying yourself. I do think that a better system needs to be implemented to stop people who abuse the FP windows, 1:00 - 2:00 means 1:00 - 2:00 not 4PM :fork:, but that's another thread (or whole bunch of threads).

Ugh. I remember averaging 50 minutes to an hour on most rides back in the 80s and 90s. To give an example of how bad it was, we would do EPCOT Center's Future World bright and early, and not even get to World Showcase until 7pm!

I love Fastpass. But it's meant to reduce waits overall, not get rid of them completely. If you're rushing around stressing about getting your next Fastpass in time, you're doing it wrong. And the one hour window is plenty of time -- the parks aren't *that* big, so even if you have to walk across a park to make a deadline, it usually won't take more than 10 - 15 minutes. You can arrive at an attraction at 2:59 on a FP that expires at 3:00, and be waved right in. Relax!

During the high season, you can't expect to get Fastpasses for everything. Even if you only get them for a couple of attractions, and have to wait in the standby line for the rest, you've saved yourself at least an hour of valuable time for the day.

To me, WDW pakrs would not be nearly as enjoyable if FASTPASS was trashed. It makes lines bearable. I can't imagine waiting 90 minutes for Soarin' or 85 minutes for Test Track, as were the waits this past Saturday late-afternoon.

If Fastpass wasn't being used, those waits would not have been nearly as long though

Sorry I didn't mean to offend you I was just trying to help.

No offense taken, hence the wink .

I had heard a rumor on another discussion board that Disney MAY be doing away with FastPass, and it got me to thinking about it. I know it's hard for folks to give up something once they get used to having it.

I think that fastpass takes the fun out of it actually. You have to run around like loons to get a Fast Pass before they run out and then have to scheduele everything around that fast pass.

I'd rather they have a set of Fast Pass Kiosks right after the turnstyles. You put in your park pass, and it tells you what's available when. You pick what you want and you can only have one per ride. Not ten at once for Splash or Peter Pan. Unless you have 10 people in your party which should already be linked on your partys passes.

Great idea about the kiosks near the park entrances :sohappy:

Another very interesting idea about FP. Would it be more fair to set aside a certain number of fast passes for on-site guests?

Disney already has the capability to do so, but hasn't chosen to. They have several patents from the U.S. Patent Office for the computer (software) technology necessary to have FPs for on-site guests, AS WELL AS for guests by level of accomodation (deluxe, moderate, etc.).

And you can't have more than one so you have to wait until that attraction one expires to get one for another. And the cycle starts again.
This is not accurate.

A FP has on it when you can get another one. It will be no later than 2 hours after you got the first one. The little secret is, you don't need to use the FP during the stated window ... you can use it later that same day. In other words, you can collect them during the day while doing other things, and then use them all in a row, if you desire.

FAIR WARNING, HOWEVER: Even though CMs are trained in the above "rule," it is possible you'll encounter one who doesn't follow the rules and forbids you from entering a FP return queue with a same-day "expired" FP. If you run into one of those, you can skip that ride and wait 'til that CM cycles to another role at that attraction, etc.
