DME Anything we should know....

I've only taken it once at like 2am and it took forever! Not waiting in line or getting to our resort, but because there weren't many people they waited until almost the whole bus was full to go and the CMs weren't exactly in a hurry either. But it is very convenient and the seats are comfortable :)

DME is pretty awesome. There are some things that you should know BEFORE you get to the bus. Your checked luggage that you are putting the yellow tags on for transport to the Disney resort will not arrive immediately. Pack any items that you may need or that are tougher to replace or costly in a carry on with you. Items like good jewelry, any prescriptions, eyeglasses/ contacts, change of clothes depending on weather, camera equipment money, traveler's checks, identification, etc. Also dont pack your Disney Magic Bands as you can use them to scan into the Magical Express. Be sure to take special note of when your flight is scheduled to arrive in Orlando as DME does not transport luggage after 10pm and you would have to go and get your checked luggage for transportation to the resort with you under the bus. If that is your planned arrival time, DONT tag your bags with the yellow tags, so as not to confuse anyone. Other than that it will be a great way to start off a carefree vacation!! I hope this is helpful!!! Marie

You can collect your luggage and take it on the DME bus yourself if you like, so at least you have it with you. This is what us international travellers have to do, but I believe it is an option for those travelling domestically but I do not know for certain.

Yes you can go to luggage claim and get your bags yourself. But if you have your bags marked with the yellow tags you can bypass the luggage and just go right to the DME area, your bags will then arrive in you room about 2 hours after you do, ours got there about 1.5 hrs after us.

DME is a GREAT service, and just helps make your trip that much easier!

We've use DME twice before and loved it. So nice not to worry about navigating the roads to your resort. Have great trip.
We've used DME since they started it and we love it....it's easier now with the magic bands gives us the since a sense that we are truly on vacation because we don't have to worry about driving.....just sit back and relax!!!!:D:D:D

Remember the day you are leaving to go home some airlines allow you to check in your luggage and get your boarding passes at the hotel so you don't have to lug bags around on the return trip too! Super nice when traveling with little kids.

DME sends the yellow luggage tags about a month before you depart for WDW. Your bus passes are included.
Don't pack the bus passes - you need them to be scanned onto the bus and they are your passes for the return to airport bus. If you need more luggage tags - contact Disney immediately when you receive the yellow tags - although you usually have enough tags since they know how many are on your reservation. Our luggage has been as much as 6 hours after we have checked into the resort. Be prepared if you have issues.

Depending on how you like to travel, like other's said, make sure that you have anything you may immediately need in a carry on bag. Once you get to the resort, even if you are not able to get in to your room right away, you can leave it at with the concierge and then be off to the parks. When we leave, we always take the last possible flight out to go home, so we give ourselves at least another half day at the parks. On the morning of checkout, we get up a little earlier, and drop off all of our bags at the DME and any carry on at the concierge to hold until we are ready to leave. That way, we can hit up rope drop, and say our final "til we meet again" to the parks before we have to board at 3:30.

Actually, you don't need the passes anymore if you have the magic band, as it is linked to your DME. Although it is still a good idea to keep them handy.
