Hmm... so Disneyland officially announced the Indy refurb, but not the Alice one yet? In the "fingers crossed" category, just give me one day in November to ride Alice... c'mon!

And on a completely different note... Ghost Galaxy isn't going away until 11/5! I never thought I would get to see it this trip, but I should get at least one spin on it. Very cool!

This is taking a lot of wind out of the sails on my vacation. The biggest disappointment by far is Indy being closed, followed at a distance by Alice and Canal Boats. I'm a big dark ride fan, so I'm still looking forward to Pinnochio, Roger Rabbit, Monsters, Pirates, HM and revisiting Mr. Toad and Snow White. My only way to think of it in a positive way is Disneyland will have at least two new E-tickets in a few years, so that will be a great reason to visit again, and hopefully finally ride Indy.

Please don't let these closures ruin any kind of excitement you have right now. A closing date for Alice hasn't even been confirmed yet and the rest of those dark rides will be open, except HM. I can definitely understand your disappointment for Indy. The good thing is, Disneyland isn't going anywhere and you can always come back. There are plenty of other attractions that will still be open and will be a lot of fun, so don't get your hopes down!

Alice should be open by the time you go and Thunder Mountain is rumored to be going down in January of next year. Let's hope it works out that way!

I had not heard that BTMRR might go down in January! Al said September and I just took it as fact.

Yeah, they're just putting in some rails for Alice and yeah, the new rumor is January will be the month for Thunder. Al Lutz did say September but now the new rumor is January.

An important edit, before it was listed as it's a small world as in the attraction being closed but it's just the Toy Shop. Can you imagine Indy, Mansion, Casey/Storybook, and Space all closed for the same 5 day period! Madness!!!!

I would imagine if Thunder and Alice were getting refubishments this fall the dates would be out by now... But since Casey and Storybook are both down they are going to wait on Alice. With Indy down Thunder will wait as well?

With all the safety rails going up around the resort on bridges and such I would assume that Casey Jr's bridges will get them as well during this refurbishment?

Wow I just realized next week is the last week of Aug. and this is the last week of Haunted Mansion for 2012.

Indiana Jones Adventure will undergo "show modifications to enhance lighting, paint, figure animation and other effects," said Kevin Rafferty Jr., a Disneyland Resort spokesman, in a statement.

Casey Jr. Circus Train and Storybook Land Canal Boats

Casey Jr. Circus Train and Storybook Land Canal Boats will close through Nov. 15 so crews can install safety enhancements. Both rides travel around the same miniature versions of Disney-animated movie scenes, either by train or boat. Disney is adding walkways to the sides of the train track and handrails on the bridges to protect employees from falling, Rafferty said.

Muppet Vision 3D and Frankenweenie preview

From Sept. 14 to Nov. 5, visitors can see the "Muppet" movie during the day and the 4D "Frankenweenie" preview at night. "Frankenweenie" opens in theaters Oct. 5.

We're getting conflicting signs right now. Al Lutz is pretty solid with his info (especially mundane stuff like refurbs), and he said Alice would be going down in September for a "multi-month" refurb. Big Thunder, too, he said was supposed to go down in September through most of 2013. Now, the calendar is out through the middle of October and those refurbs were supposed to start in a couple of weeks or sooner and no mention of either refurb anywhere. I'm hopeful for my trip like you are, but also

I would assume at this point both Alice and Thunder are not happening at least for fall 2012, perhaps they've been bumped to Spring till whenever they are completed.

Welcome to post Labor day at DLR!

Rafts to Pirates Lair on Tom Sawyer Island are closed for a few days.


Storybook Land Canal Boats and Casey Jr. Circus Train are both closed for a multi month refurbishment.

Disneyland Railroad is open but has reduced capacity, I don't think this will effect much. Don't they usually just run 3 trains at the most anyways?

Indiana Jones Adventure is also closed for a multi month refurbishment. See a few post above from more details.


French Market is closed for a few days.

Snow White Grotto/Wishing Well is closed but the walkway should still be open. Both sides of the castle walkways will now have walls.

City Hall facade is open but the exterior will be covered in scafolding and tarps, same will also apply to the Fire Station. The last refubishment was back in 2004.

Toy Story Midway Mania! will be closed tomorrow(Sept 5th) for 1 day.

Jungle Cruise and Stage Door Cafe both were both scheduled for refurbishments, I'm not sure if they happened as they were both so quick.

"small world" is set to close on October 22 and will reopen November 8th for its Christmas overlay.

Starcade in Tomorrowland will close on October 8th and reopen on October 18th for the Wreck-It-Ralph meet and greet.

The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail at California Adventure will close on October 22nd for maintenance, and will reopen on November 8th.
