DLP Trip July 2012 - WOW!

Just discovered this morning that I may be heading to DLP next month. Any advice, where to stay & how long, etc. would be appreciated.
Hotel? Sequoia is a great mod resort. Ask for a Montana room (main building as opposed to a lodge room) and it should be a new room. Newport is also great, but needs a refurb and is a slightly further walk as well as slightly more expensive. We found the New York not worth the price hike. Make sure your deal includes hoppers and breakfast.

First time? Two days in DL and at least one in WDSP, more if at weekend. I'd say a stretch to five days would leave you still wanting more.

Not going to be able to swing 5 days - looking at flying in from Edinburgh on Sunday and returning on Wednesday. Wanting to spend a couple days in London this trip, as I don't know when the next time I can hop across the pond will be. How far is it from the Paris airport to the park?

It's a 30-40 min coach ride door to door, or a single stop TGV. As much as we tried the train we couldn't find DLP/marne le Vallee or similar on the automated ticket machines.

Google VEA Disney for GE shuttle coach company.

If you want to use the TGV, the station at DLP is called "Marne-la-Vallée Chessy - TGV". You can check train times on http://www.tgv-europe.com/en/

The train is really quick, I think about 12 minutes or so. But the tickets are pricey and the schedule has sometimes large gaps. I used a private shuttle twice which worked great from this company. Depending on how large your party is, a private shuttle does not have to cost more than taking the VEA shuttle or the TGV. And since my flights always seem to arrive at the furthest terminal CDG has, it saves me a long trip to the VEA pick up point or the train station.

Martin, I watched your Dreams! video yesterday and thought it was just wonderful! A very different experience than being there in person as you managed to combine all these different view points into one great video!

Thank you!

We did try the automated ticket machines, as far as we could, for the TGV but couldn't find the station on the choose your destination option. The manned desks of course had a queue a mile long. We gave up, cut our losses, and headed back to the VEA station (which incidentally is being moved and expanded)

I think the train station was named under 'Chessy'. I too had to look for it for ages on those ticket vending machines. Everywhere they have these convenient brown signs that say 'Disneyland', but at the ticket machine...nothing.

I'm not sure it was Chessy, but I know I found it under a name like that, one I wasn't expecting. As of last week, a one way fare was 7,10 from the city (Chatelet). I usually stay in the city itself. Then hop over to DLP for a Disney quickie.

Oh, and just in case I won;t have an opportunity to say so elsewhere: Disney Dreams was awesome. Wow. What a spectacle, and what a technological marvel to behold. There were ooh's and aah's everywhere. We were blown away.

Think WoC, Illuminations (fire!) and MMY all in one. A seriously good show!
(In my dreams, they remove the hat and put this in DHS, imagine movie projections on and around the Graumann Theatre!)

Indeed, the Full Name is Marne La Vallée - Chessy, and it's the last station of the line. But be careful when you take the train, as the line splits in two parts. Check on the screens or on the boards that your train is effectly going to Marne la Vallée, there is a orange square aside the name in that case.

The price for the ticket may vary if you start closer to the park, and € 7,10 is the maximum you can spend for one travel to Disneyland Paris

I wish it worked. I searched for Disneyland, Chessy, Marne le Valle... But the stupid machine just displayed pre chosen names on a list.

But we were eager to get to the resort (and had lost time with bags sent to the wrong carousel) to meet friends so we got the VEA.

But you are talking about the RER now, I guess? I think Martin originally was talking about the TGV directly from the airport (CDG) to Disneyland. So he was looking at the SNCF ticket machines I think, not the RATP ones. I will be at CDG in the near future and if I have the time, I might have a look to see whether I can figure it out.

When we took the TGV once we had pre booked the tickets via the internet which worked fine.

Oh right! Indeed I was talking about the RER (I live in Paris, and I use every time I go to DLParis, that's why I thought about the RER and not the TGV). But that's strange, because the TGV is much more exepensive than € 7,10 ^^

Since this thread is about a trip report, I thought I'd post my report from my first visit to DLP in June. I've heard bad things about DLP but honestly I didn't notice anything wrong with anything and I had a great time. It was raining and Indiana Jones was closed for a little bit, and Space Mountain wasn't open at the start of the day, but the day I went was the first day that it had reopened after being closed for a week so that may have had something to do with it. The ride itself was perfect when I rode it, though.
Here it is:

I checked yesterday. It was a machine where you had to seach by picking the first few letters of your destination, and the machine then narrows down the list of stations with pre-chosen names. The machine registered it as 'Parc Disneyland'.

That is, type in 'P'...'A'...'R'...

and after the 'R' the machine gives the option of 'Marne la Vallée - Chessy - Parc Disneyland'. :)

hmm may be i will have to go there some day
I got attacked twice in queues yesterday. Lovely line-cutters don't take 'no' for an answer and will assault you. I didn't even bother saying anything about smoking everywhere because I had my fill of being physically assaulted all day long.

Long live DLP and its Eurotrash audience!

If you want to stay in a Disney hotel, I like the Sequoia Lodge.
If it's your first visit there, I think two or three days should be enough for everything (depending on the number of guest these days)
Try not to pick the end of the month, as it is the Halloween celebrations, with privates evenings, so the parks closes earlier

cheers for the report - I need to revisit as it has been 7 years since I have been...! Will be going back in time for ratatouille and have always wondered about the sequoia lodge.
