Hi there !

Some internal rumours here at DLP say that our "Once Upon A Dream Parade" would be sold in 3 years to WDW, to replace the Magic Kingdom's "Disney Dreams Come True".

And WDW magic Kingdom's Parade would come to DLP.

Do you have any information on the other side of the Ocean ?

Thank you !

From what I know, the DLP Parade Route is way bigger then WDW, in width that is. This means the floats probably wouldn't fit in the MK Streets here at WDW. Plus, our parade would seem mediocre and small compared to everything else they have had.

This may sound like a daft question and I apologise if it is, but how would one company (disney) sell a parade to itself?

Disney is very much into cost centers and separate budgets for lots and lots of departments, and bills itself for almost everything.

Watch this DLRP Video, and compare it to the WDW Video. They were practically recorded in the exact same spot at both parks. I still think DLP's Parade Route is a LOT wider.
I'm not sure i would agree with you, because you chose uncompairable videos. The DLP parade video you linked above is a normal daytime parade. For WDW you used the Christmas Parade AT NIGHT, so its harder to tell this sort of thing when there is lower light levels. Also the garland lining the street makes the area look smaller and therefore makes the floats look bigger. Provide a better video for WDW, preferably one not from during the holidays and during the day, then a fair compairison can be made.

^In addition, people are sitting along the curb in the WDW video. In the DLRP one, people are standing, not sitting. Its not much, but that extra foot or so on each side makes a difference. The DLRP route may be wider, but even if it is, not by a lot.

I looked for a WDW Video during the day and couldn't find one. That's the only one I could find at a similar angle. You are right though. I see what you mean.

Though the parks of course vary as much as the individual parade routes DLPs Disneyland Parc in general is larger in scale to Orlando. The tighter turns of both Town Square and The Hub arn`t an issue with the larger Parisian versions, and Paris has no hard turn outside the HOP, apart from the fact it has no HOP :D I`ll get some stats....

In Paris the width of Main St is 45ft, compared to an average of 30ft in Orlando

In Paris the average width of the hub roadway is 35ft, compared to an average of 26ft in Orlando

WDWs route is roughly 2500ft long, in Paris it is 2300ft.

WDW also has the deciding factor for floats - though no longer a wheelbase issue, the Liberty Square Bridge has barely 20ft side to side.

Thank you very much. I thought it was like that kind of idea.

Actually, most major corporations do that. Within our company we call it "Funny Money" or "Blue Dollars" (as opposed to green). It also allows companies to better track assets on balance sheets, budgets, and depreciation for the "tax man". Thus it's not really sold as we know it, but more so "cost transferred" between business units.

In our case, and I'm sure as with Disney, everything is done this way. Services provided between other business units (i.e. WDI), equipment, landscaping, construction, lodging, food services, etc.

Our parts department loves to remind everyone else how they make the most money for the company.
I'm in engineering, so I only cost the company money.

I work for one of the main tv companies in the uk, and I find little things are ridiculous. Obviously each area have seperate budgets, but I can even print out a friggin' A4 page without someone breathing down my neck.

What about the Parade of Dreams from Disneyland coming to WDW?
That was the most recent parade rumor I remember. Did they change thier mind about which parade they wanted?

I really hope that:
1: WDW does decide to bring Parade of Dreams to MK
2. they end up using "Welcome To Our Family Time" as the show stop (Disneyland is going to change it to "Just Like We Dreamed It" and while it IS a good song it's not as catchy.)
