DL dining plan - more info please???

Hello all,

The DL website really needs more info on the dining plan. I have booked a trip with the 5 day plan. I am looking for a list of eateries that accept the dining option. What character meals are included? Does the WOC package work into the plan at all?

I'm mostly looking for info on the dinner options. I want to make the best of the plan and get the most for my money. If anyone knows of a link to a list of options I would greatly appreciate it.

Disneyland has a dining plan? Really?

I've never heard of such a thing at Disneyland. I look forward to someone more knowledgeable than I am explaining it to us.

My gosh, you're right, Disneyland has a dining plan just like WDW! A local know-it-all like me can still learn new things!

The Disneyland.com website has quite a bit of info on it, but it sounds like your question would be answered by just cutting and pasting the list of applicable restaurants;

"Applicable Resort Dining locations include select Character Dining or Table Service Restaurants at the Disneyland® Resort. Character Dining locations include: Plaza inn on Main Street, USA - Disneyland® Park; Celebration Roundup and Barbeque at Big Thunder Ranch - Disneyland® Park; Disney's PCH Grill - Disney's Paradise Pier® Hotel; Storyteller's Cafe - Disney's Grand Californian Hotel® & Spa. Table Service Restaurants include: Cafe Orleans - Disneyland® Park; Carnation Cafe - Disneyland® Park; Wine Country Trattoria - Disney's California Adventure® Park; Steakhouse 55 - Disneyland® Hotel."

Interesting that the Blue Bayou isn't on there. Also Napa Rose is missing, which is understandable. Ariel's Grotto is also missing from the list as a Character meal.

Adding on to this conversation I'm having with myself...

The dining page on Disneyland.com also states that Ariel's Grotto and Goofy's Kitchen are included in the plan, but as a "premium" location available at an additional cost.

I've eaten at Goofy's Kitchen exactly one time, and that food isn't "premium" in any way. But if you consider doing the Macarena with Goofy in line for more chocolate pudding a premium experience, then it's right up your alley.

Blue Bayou and Napa Rose, however, are nowhere to be found.

I was told the DL Dining Plan was more like pre-paying your meals vs. WDW where you can work the planning so the out of pocket for the plan is less than the total of the menu prices of what you order in a day. A DL vacation person told me to steer clear unless pre-paying was that important. She said people who love WDW's plan are almost always disappointed in DL's. :shrug:

I'm heading to DL in 2 weeks and I bought the dining plan. Here are the differences between DL & WDW:

DL still uses paper vouchers instead of your room key (I was very surprised by this)
There seem to be different levels that allow you to eat at different levels of restaurants
Instead of a counter service meal, you get a $15 food voucher. I'm assuming this can be used at a table service as well (?).

That's all I know for now...

Yes it seems like rather than getting you a full meal like the WDW dining plan, you get a voucher for, say, $15. You don't get any money back if you don't spend that full $15 either. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

I found the info on that page under the tab titled "Disney Dining Plan".
