For such a great themepark, well at least 10 years ago Universal
is not really doing much these days with the exceptions, of T2:3D,
Spiderman, and Back to The Future I would rather go to DisneyWorld. They better start putting out some killer thrill ride and attractions not JN or Shrek!

Did you hear about a place called Islands Of Adventure? It's right next door and I think you could suffice your thirst for adrenaline in there.
If you just obey to the old Universal, you'll be soon getting The Scorpion King mountain, which I guess that means Kongfrontation going, which it means I'll hate them.

Yes, but the way it is worded makes it sound like Spiderman is in the Studios Park, not IOA. :p
I totally agree with the concept - US has gone down hill rapidly since our first visit (94)

I agree, Universal Studios is rather boring now. I went in Jan. and did the whole park in 3 hrs. I really didn't have any desire to ride any of the rides there more than once either. I didn't have time to go to IOA though, I'm not sure I would like it. I love roller coasters, but if I wanted to go on roller costers I could do that here at Kings Island. I prefer well themed parks that have innovative attractions.(I know that IOA has some, ie. Spiderman) Convince me other wise?

I love rollercoasters, adrenaline junkie, all that, and I like Universal much better than IOA, but I must say, I didn't get on Hulk, so I think that is why I feel this way.

I'd rather walk around Universal, I like the whole park, not a fan of IOA YET!

Yeah, US is getting boring. I guess it's either cuz I'm a Disney freak or their rides just aren't as appealing to me. I started both parks at when they opened and was done by 3. When I went to Disney I started at opening an left at closing.

I have to agree Universal do need to do something. I was over in Sept and although I did still enjoy myself doing the usual, BTTF, Twister, MIB, Hulk, etc. They do seem to be closing more rides than they are opening. With Kong already gone, HB and Hitchcock about to go they need to get something up and running real soon. It seems to take years to get a ride running. Why so long? I know it has to be built and tested. But it does seem to take for ever.

Plus they need to get the rides they do have working. I spend three days trying to get on Spiderman and I didn't get to ride it one! I was very dissapointed! But Hey, Disney are no better at that one. Test Track is always down.

If you think the park is in rough shape now, just wait until practically an entire half of the park is shut down early next year to make way for new attractions (Shrek, Neutron, Kong's Replacement).

I'm off back in March and if half the park is closed I will only expect to pay half the entrance fee.

What do you think my chances are?

We were there July 4th week in 99. Got there when the park opened and did the same thing. The whole park in 3 hrs. Maybe they should have expanded the original nstead of building IOA

Hmmm... to me Universal was set up with the outsider in mind, someone who could not get to the park everyday (at least originally-- I think they are trying to change). So most of the rides are larger and involved and designed with a person who may only go every few years to the park. If you are local, or frequent the park alot I think it would get boring quite fast. Just my thoughts. I may be totally wrong.

And I really don't understand why they chose to do it this way. A staggered approach to the whole thing would have made a lot more sense and probably would have had a longer effect on boosting attendance as well.

Heck, they could have closed one thing down (HB or HP) around the same time they opened MIB... True, that was a few years ago and would mean that something was possibly sitting empty the whole time but from a guests perspective, they could have closed something else quietly around the same time this one opened and it would likely have gone unnoticed by many. Likewise, it would seem like a better idea to have closed down the attraction that could get remade the quickest (probably HB to Neutron) and pump out that new thing before closing the other two...

I don't know, perhaps it is a matter of opportunity. Maybe they weren't able to do something like this up until now and because of their parent company's current instability, it was considered a good idea to jump into all of this why they still could... Just the same, unless they plan on publicizing it as a whole remake of the park somehow, having three attractions change over in the same park - boom, boom, boom - doesn't seem like the ideal way to get the most bang for their buck.

They did, I think. Didn't "Xena"/"murder she wrote" close down around that time and the doors have never reopened! OK it wasn't the best of show but they have had an empty building for several years with no evidence of a new ride opening. I think it's all down to profits or lack of!

On my last visit in Sept the price of my ticket went up from my previous visit. Nothing new had opened. I'd just missed Kong closing by 2 days. Most of the attractions only ran a set times of the day and reduced from normal. Spiderman never worked.... only up side for us was that I didn't have to wait in line for any of the rides. But the question has to be what was the extra money spent on.

A while back all that money was invested into some signs... only viewable by employees. They all read... "We Will Win"

That's were the money went. ;)

But seriously at this point I think it's smart for Universal to come out with multiple improvements all at once, one at a time would keep the dull factor in there, and the Kong conversion will take longer than the other two updates I'm sure.

Let's face the facts. The one and only problem with Universal is that it's destined eternally to be in Disney's shadow. If Disney never exited, Universal would be at the top of the list and none of us would complain about it being so (insert whiny adjective), we would probably be asking why "Sea World" and "bush Gardens" are not well-themed.
