Disney's Streaming Services: Disney+ (and Hulu, ESPN+, Star, & hotstar)

Exactly. That's why we need shows like SNL, South Park, Family Guy, etc, that aren't afraid to remind us (through "crossing the line" and taking it to the limits) that it's OK to laugh at life sometimes. There's something about all of us... our views, our culture, our habits, you name it.. something about all of us that's worthy of some humor.
100%. … people need a lot more lightening up these days

Wasn’t sure where to put this because it’s such a bizarre take, these investors want Disney to shut down ABC, making it available only on streaming, claiming it would add $20 billion in shareholder value, increase valuation, and improve revenue growth.

I’m no expert on TV and streaming but this seems a wild claim to me.

There has been a call to offload ABC for awhile now. The idea is to focus resources on streaming where the potential upside is greater than continue to spend on the slow downward spiral of legacy linear. And while I think its an interesting take, I say why not squeeze as much as you can from linear while there are still customers.

Seemed bizarre to me for similar reasons, even if TV were losing money it would still offset much of the production costs of D+ shows. Most of what’s on D+ now is either from ABC or ESPN, seems like having 2 revenue streams from each show would halve the costs.

It's not actually "losing money" it is "profiting less." (Perhaps you meant that?)

Fearing the continual lessening of profits is Wall Street's bugaboo. If the bottom line is shrinking, or not even growing as fast as they want, they dump the stock fearing no dividends or no two-digit growth in stock evaluation.

This is why Comcast and Warners-Discovery are divesting in TV channels... to make their financials look better.

Disney is wise to keep holding onto a profit center. Especially one that produces a lot of content that eventually winds up on D+/Hulu. Two pay windows.
