I mentioned in a previous post about my park based on folklore and literature. Well, here it is: "Disney's Storybook Kingdom" and is themed to entering the worlds of famous stories, myths, and legends that Disney has based their films on. There are eight lands in the park.

Storybook Square:
The Center of the park. From here, guests enter the different worlds of Disney characters. This is also the only land not based on a specific film, but rather all the films that do not have their own area. The main attraction here is inside Storybook Tower, the village clock tower. Inside, Merlin takes you on a ride through the world of classic stories, including a nasty encounter with the Disney Villains.

Mickey's Kingdom:
Mickey's Kingdom is the first land going clockwise. The theming is European as well, similar to the towns from cartoons like "The Brave Little Tailor" or "The Prince and The Pauper", among others. There is a spinning dark ride based on The Sorcerer's Apprentice, A Mickey and The Beanstalk kiddie coaster, and a character greeting tent to meet Mickey and friends. There is also a lagoon where Fantasmic could be shown (If it's not already where the park is).

Pleasure Island:
The next land is based on Pinochio and mostly the Pleasure Island segment. The main attraction is a flume ride called "Escape from Pleasure Island". First you journey through Pleasure Island until you discover everyone is being turned into donkeys when you head through rough seas before taking a large flume drop into Monstro's mouth. There's also a Stromboli puppet theater with a puppet/audio aimatronic show and maybe some carnival games or arcade to complete the themeing.

Snow White's Forest:
The third area is a wooded area based on Snow White. In the forest, guests can explore the Seven Dwarf's house, take a dark ride through their diamond mine and Heigh Ho scene. At the edge of the forest is the Wicked Queen's Castle, a haunted house ride. Outside in the castle courtyard is Snow White's wishing well and in the window The Queen can be seen looking out the window like in the movie.

Ariel's World:
This land has two distinct areas. Eric's seaside village includes an E-ticket, a Pirates style boat ride based on the film, which can be reached by entering Prince Eric's Castle. Guests can also journy under the sea to an are similar to Mermaid Lagoon at TDS complete with play area, character greeting area, and a live audio-animatronic show staring Sabastian.

Pooh's 100 Ace Woods:
Based on the Pooh stories, this land is mostly for children. Guests can explore Pooh's House and Tigger's Bounce House. There is also a replica or either MK's Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh or TDL's Pooh's Hunny Hunt, as well as a live show on the scale of DAK's Pocahontas and her Forest Friends.

Hercules Plaza:
This Land home to the park's biggest attraction, Mount Olympus, which takes guests on a roller coaster ride form the top of Mount Olympus to the depths of the Underworld. There is also a virtual reality attraction where guests must help Herc defeat monsters called Hercules' Flying Chariot Adventure, a spinner based on Pegasus, and a live show called Zero to Hero: The Muse-ical Adventure.

Belle's Village:
The last land is based on the provincial village from Beauty and The Beast. The main Attraction is a live show called "The Court of Beauty and The Beast" where Belle, her Prince, and the now human enchanted objects recreate their story. There is also a spinning dark ride called Chip's Teacup Spin, where you ride through the "Be Our Guest" scene and a 3-D movie inside Belle's Cottage where her father Maurice shows you some of his newest inventions.

I'll post more about the attractions, restaurants, ect. later. How does it look so far?

I'd change the name of the Pinocchio area from Pleasure Island. There is already a well known area at Disney that goes by PI.

I don't know that Hercules would be a good themed area. It wasn't that popular of a movie and I don't know how good of an area it would be.

Other than that, the ideas sound pretty good.

If you plan on this being another park at WDW, I'd have some concerns.

One thing that I would worry about is having the same type of rides that are already an existing ride somewhere else. Also having multiple areas dedicated to the same person (Mermaid, LK, Pooh) would need to be really different than what already exists.

No, this is part of a different resort area not WDW. I've designed a few other parks for it, but I'm starting here.

As for multiple areas dedicated to the same person, I don't understand what you mean. Should they be different from eachother or from similar areas in other parks?

Ursula has a large role in the e-ticket in Ariel's World already (including the battle sequence with Eric). I'll be posting more about it soon.

Merlin's Magical Journey

I'm going to start posting more information about the attractions now. I'll start with Storybook Square's attractions. Here's the first, Merlin's Magical Adventure:

This attraction is in the Storybook Square area of the park. You enter by going into the Storybook Tower, a clocktower which chimes throughout the dat and acts as the park's main icon. You enter the queue that looks like Merlin's Workshop. When you reach the loading area, you board fanciful machines created by the wizard himself (modified vehicals similar to those in Journy into Imagination). Soon you find yourself in his library where he and Archemedes The Owl tell you they have a spell that will take you into the world of classic stories. Merlin says some magic words and one of his bookshelves opens and takes you into the magical world. You pass through a forest and village that is inhabited by close to 100 Disney characters. Alice, the Mad Hatter, and March Hare are having a tee party, Pooh is stuck in Rabbit's hole and his friends try to pull him out, Robin Hood practices his archery, Quasimodo watches the action on the steets bellow, Arthur pulls Excalabar from the stone, just to name a few. However, once you leave the village, The Evil Queen from Snow White casts another spell on you taking you to the relm of Disney Villans where many of the Disney Villains try to attack you. For the finale, Maleficent transforms into a giant dragon, but is defeted by Tinker Bell's magic. She transports you back to the world of classic stories and you enter a ballroom where the Disney heros and Princesses celebrate and Merlin and Archamedes sends you back to Storybook Square.

How does this sound?

Mickey and the Beanstalk

Not much of a reposnce to Merlin thus far, but I'll continue anyway. OK, this is a kid-sized coaster in the Mickey's Kingdom area of the park:

The ride can be found in a corner of Mickey's Kingdom based Happy Valley from the Mickey and the Beanstalk Segment from "Fun and Fancy Free. Guests begin their journey by walking through The Castle which was home to the Magic Singing Harp before she was stollen by Willie the Giant. Guests board roller coaster cars covered with the Beansatalk's gant green leaves and take a lift up the beanstalk. They then take a kiddie roller coatser ride riding the Beanstalk over Happy Valley. Along the way, you also pass through Mickey and and friend's cottage, which has been torn apart by the growing Beanstalk and also through another cottage where Mickey, Donald, and Goofy and hiding the Magic Harp from Willie, who just my find them since he's nearly ripped the roof off. You finish your journey by crashing through a wall and find yourself back at the castle where you exit.

How's this one. Any thoughts on anything in the park so far?

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

Continuing with Mickey's Kingdom, here's the dark ride based on Fantasia:

The queue to this attraction looks like the Sorcerer's workshop. You enter a vehical similar to the Haunted Masion's Doom Buggy, (which will play the right music when you get to the right place and turns you in the direction you should be looking). The first scene shows The Sorcerer at his cauldron doing magic. In the next scene, Mickey puts on the Sorcerer's hat and brings the broom to life. Mickey leads the broom and the broom follows his orders. We then enter a fantasy world where Mickey is commanding the stars high atop a mountain. we return to reality to find that there are now many brooms flooding the room. Your vehical spins out of control as the brooms squirt you with water. At the end the Sorcerer returns and restores order while Mickey hides. The ride has two tracks which only meet in two scenes, the begining with the Sorceror and Mickey's dream.

Any thoughts on this or any of the other attractions? I'd love to hear them.

Escape from Pleasure Island

Moving on to Pleasure Island, here's it's big E-Ticket flume ride:

You enter the attraction from the far edge of Pleasure Island, which more closely resembles Geppetto's Village. Once in the queue, yoy are confronted by audio-animatronics of Honest John and Gideon who invite you to Pleasure Island. Jimmany Cricket, acting as your "official concience" soon appears and advises you not to go. You don't listen and enter your boat. You go up a large dark lift (like in EPCOT's Maelstrom) and hear Honest John and Jimmany's voices. Two gates open and you find yourself in Pleasure Island. You take a ride through the Island through the streets. Soon you're on another lift and discover you're on a roller coaster above Pleasure Island and take a short ride. After that, you enter the pool hall where Pinocchio and Lampwick are. When you leave, you can see Lampwick's transformation into a donkey through a window. Jimmanny appears and tells you to get away. You take a small drop and your car becomes a boat in the water. You see Pinochio, Geppetto, Figaro, and Cleo on a raft. You go up another lift and then go down a waterfall plunging into the mouth of Monstro the Whale bellow. The ride end when you o through Geppetto's Village and see that Pinochio is now a real boy through Geppetto's shop window.

Any thoughs? How is it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Stromboli's Puppet Theater

Here's next of Pleasure Island's attractions:
After entering the attraction, guests find themself in a holding area (such as the one in Country Bear Jambory, Enchanted Tiki Room, ect.). Posters promoting Stromboli's show are scattered around the room, including some heralding "Pinocchio- The Living Puppet". Guests enter the bench-filled theater reminisant of the one from the film. The show begins with the cutain rising revieling an audio-animatronic of Pinocchio who sings "I've Got No Strings" and is soon joined by a cast of real marionettes that appear around him. After the number, Jimminy Cricket (an animatronic) appears on stage and imediatly protests Pinocchio's decision to become an actor insteed of going to school. Stromboli (also an animatronic) appears and assures Jiminy there is nothing wrong with Pinochio's desire to become an actor. He and the puppets then burst out into a rendition of "High-Diddily-Dee". Jiminy is still erluctant about the idea and reminds Pinoccio to let his conscience be his guide with a rendition of "Give A Little Whistle". Stromboli announcs that the show is over and Pinocchio and the puppets leave the stage. As soon as they're gone, The Blue Fairy (either an animatronic or live actress, I have yet to decide) appears on stage. Jimminy tells her about his troubles with Pinocchio, but she assures him that Pinocchio will make the right decission and then starts to sing "When You Wish Upon A Star". Jimminy takes over and finishes the song for the show's Finale. In the end, The Blue Fairy again disappears and the curtain closes.

Any oppinions. Also, should the Blue Fairy be a live actress/ singer or would it work for her to be an animatronic (or which would be better)? Thanks

Pleasure Island Midway

The last area of Plesure Island still has some work to be done with maybe some of you could put in some input about it:

Pleasure Island Midway is an area of the land which is based on the famous Pleasure Island sequence of the film. The festive carnival atmosphere seems like a Disney-fied version of the place where little boys can be as bad as they want (at least in the film, not here). There are a few attractions such as a carousel and possibly a roller coaster (shades of Primevial Whirl) or Ferris Wheel. There are also a small area of midway games and an arcade. There are also a variaty of street performers in this are as well, which will be discussed in a latter post.

Any thoughts?

Seven Dwarfs' Mine Train

I'm going to move on to Snow White's Forest, but don't let that stop you if you have any comments or input on Pleasure Island, Mickey's Kingdom, or Storybook Square. Here's the first attraction, The Seven Dwarfs' Mine Train:

The ride begins with a ride through the Dwarfs' diamond mine. Guests in mine carts pass through seeing the Dwarfs as they do their chores. Sneezy and Bashful dig diamonds and other precious jewles, Happy and Grumpy are in a push cart going around and Sleepy is riding in a cart full of Diamods. Doc inspects the diamonds carefully and Dopey sweeps up the rejects. The clock chimes, signalling the work day is over, and we enter the store room where Doc, Grumpy, and Sleepy are putting away pics, shovles, and, most importantly, the diamonds. Outside Dopey locks up and Happy and Sneezy take time to smell the flowers. We then pass many forest animals and finally the dwarfs marrching home. The ride ends as we ride through their front door and right to the exit.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

The Wicked Queen's Castle

The attractions just keep on comming. Here's Snow White's Forest's big E-Ticket:

You begin inside the castle, where the Magic Mirror tells you to beware. You enter the throne room, which is empty, except for The Queen's Raven. Outside the windows it's dark and thunder crashes. Far in the distance all you hear is the ominous Queen saying "Magic Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all". You turn and enter the dungeon where skelotons and giant spiders reach out for you. You next enter her labrotory and see the Queen who says her magic words and with a puff of smoke, transforms into the wicked witch. In the next room she is at her cauldron mixing the poison apple. She boards her bardge and goes to the forest. The next scene is the haunted forest where the trees reach out for you and logs become aligators. The witch's evil cackeling fills the air. She stands on a rock trying to push a bolder on you, but you turn, see a bright light, and hear her screem. You return to the castle and find two vultures sitting above the doorway.

What do you think? And before anyone askes, if this park was put into a Disney Resort area, there would be no Snow White ride at MK since they may ne too similar to have together.

Dwarfs' Cottage

The last Snow White-themed attraction is a small walk-through attraction:

At the Dwarfs' Cottage, guests find themself in the House Snow White and the Dwarfs live in while the she is hiding from the Queen. Guests enter the area by crossing over a small bridge over a brook. Guests will see statues of Snow White's forest friends here, washing the Dwarfs' clothes in the brook as the did while they whistled while they worlked. After crossing the bridge, outside and to the left is the washtub, which is also a fountian which squirts guests playing neer it. Inside the cottage are more areas to explore. In the kitchen, more of Snow White's animal friends can be found cleaning up and the table is all set for dinner. Elsewhere, Grumpy's pipe organ can be found waiting to be played by guests.

Think this is enough sight to see? I'd appreciate any imput. Thanks

The Little Mermaid

On to the newest area I've worked on. This is the Pirates-style boat ride at the seaside village area:

The attraction begins with a walk through Prince Eric's Castle. Afterwards, you find yourself at the loading dock "outside". You enter the boat and hear a voice which says something along the lines of "So you don't believe in Merpeople, eh? Well, they're real, I tell ya! I have a tale that might just change your mind". You see Prince Eric's ship, where there is a party on board and fireworks in the air. Ariel sits on a rock and watches and Sabastian tries to convince her to change her mind. After passing the ship, the skies get rough and hear "man overboard!" Thunder and lightning fill the area and we see Ariel in the water pulling Eric to shore. The skies clear and Ariel sings to Eric on the beach. Sabastian, Flounder, and Scuttle are neerby, though Sabatin still thinks this is a bad idea. Soon Ursula appears and makes things worse and proclaims that she is the Queen of the sea. There is more rough water, a whirlpool, and sunken ships return to the surfase. In the end, Eric, on one of the sunken ships, defetes a giant Ursula. In the last scene, Eric sits on the beach and Ariel of a Rock in the water. Water shoots up around her and she appears, as a human, on the beach. The nairator says that if you ever doubt if merpeople are real, to remember his story and you exit.

Any thoughts?

Pods to Triton's Kingdom

The next part of Ariel's Kingdom is the undersea world of Ariel. Here's some info about it to start out with:

Guests begin their journey to the bottom of the sea by passing an animatronic Skuttle who informs guests that because King Triton's daughter, Ariel has married a human prince, he is welcoming human guests to his kingdom. He directs you to board small pods (think Jules Verne meets Living Seas Hydrolators) which will take them to the bottom of the ocean. You do so and after a few special effects to make you feel like you've dived down under the sea, the pod opens and you find yourself on the ocean's bottom. There will be a few attractions here including an animatronic show (which will be explained in a latter post), a play area simiar to the one in TDS, an area for guests to meet and have their pictures taken with Ariel and Prince Eric, as well as a snack stand and gift shop. After visiting, guests board another pod which returns them to the surface and back to Eric's village.

Any ideas? I'm not sure I want any more carnival-type rides with Pleasure Island and another one comming up in Hercules Plaza, but should there be at least one like in Tokyo, Any imput.

Under the Sea

This is the major attraction you'll find in the Triton's Kingdom section of Ariel's World. It's an audio-animatronic show staring Sabastian and friends:

Guests enter the attraction passing a sign that states that Sabastian and his band are in rehersal for a condert that they will be performing in honnor of Ariel. After waiting in the holding area, guests enter the theater and see the band is warming up. Once everyone is seated, Sabastian counts off his band and they preform "Under the Sea". After they finish their song, King Triton arrives and requestes that they preform for him what they will play for his daughter's concert. They preform "Kiss The Girl" and the King approves. He leaves and the band plays a finale, which will be a medley of Calypso themed songs.

Not much to go by, but it gives some idea of what it would be like. How does it sound?

Pooh's House and Tigger's Bounce House

Since the last attraction in Ariel's World is similar to the walk-through in TDS, I'll be moving on the the 100 Acre Woods:

Pooh and Tigger's Houses are similar to what might be found in Toontown at Disneyland. Pooh's treehouse has various things to see including "hunny" pots which make noises such as Pooh's voice of buzzing bees when the lids are lifted. Pooh's "Pooh-coo" clock is here too and chimes from time to time and the mirror in which he does his excersizes are here as well, periodically showing Pooh's image in it (in an effect similar to the one at the Villains room in WDW's World of Disney or Disneyland's Mad Hatter shop). At Tigger's Bounce House, kids can come in and literally bounce off the walls of the room in a re-themed version of Goofy's House at Toontown.

The other two Pooh attractions are recycle from MK and Paris (and are the last of the 4 recycled attractions in the park), so the next attractions will be from Hercules Plaza. Any thoughts so far?

Mount Olympus

Mount Olympus in Hercules Plaza is the most thrilling attraction in the park. You enter a small building neer the bottom of the giant mounain (forced perspective, of course). Once inside, Hercules greets you and says that the gods are now allowing him to take mortals to see what their home on Mount Olympus looks like. Herc says that your flying chariot (decorated roller coaster car) will fly to the top of Mount Olympus, circle it, and return you to the plaza. You board your chariot and fly through the clouds up to the gates of Mount Olympus. Sudenly Pain and Panic appear and, thinking that you are gods, turn you off track down the first drop into entrance of the Underworld. You take a wild roller coaster ride through the dark Underworld until you reach the pool of souls. There, Hades is waiting for you. He tries to throw you into it, but you do a loop right over it insteed and leave the Underworld. At the end, you pass Hercules who appolgizes for the rough ride and you return to the Plaza.

How does this one sound?
