Why the heck is it so expensive?

It's kind of ridiculous.
$200 for photos of yourself?

I don't mind paying for the service, but it seems a little pricey for what you get...especially since it doesn't give you a set amount. If you get 10 pictures on Photopass, its the same price as if you had 300.

So it's $200 for the pictures...and then you have to pay to get them printed.
Thats how I feel as well. The only time we will purchase it is if there are at least 3 families. Even then its not always worth it.

I can see it if you have taken a LOT of pictures and you can split the cost with other people, but it just seems way overpriced to me.
*gives you the raspberry*

The Epcot Manifesto
I've never felt ripped off with the pre-paid photopass (and this past trip, photopass+). I feel that out of all chachkis, tshirts, snowglobes, toys that will be broken within a week of return, the pictures that the photopass folks have taken for us are by far the best and most lasting things in our trip. Having a photopass person, with a nice professional camera, with the perfect framing locations, take those pictures for us, it works out. It also forces us to stop and use the service more, leading to more high-quality pictures. "Hey, lets stop for a picture here, we paid for it already anyway".
This past trip, having the dining and attraction photos were a very great addition. I might have purchased one attraction photo, maybe 2, if left to my own, but since they were included, I grabbed them all.

I think the idea behind the attractions+ is solid and will appeal to some people who dont think the entire photopass package is worth their money. Gives them a more targeted benefit.

Your opinions may vary, it's just how it works for my family.

I did photopass+ last june and will do it again. when we got home from our trip we had over 350 pics. the price we paid vs. the price we could have paid and would have never done was great. i'm not saying its for everyone, and someone mentioned the printing coast when you get home, but we have 3 of those frames that rotate the digital pics and it works out great that we get to see all the pics we want from that trip. we are going back next june for our last trip for some time. i have already pre-ordered the photopass+ because i know we will want every picture we can get. it was so nice last time coming off a ride and just giving the card to the person at the counter and not worring about how good the pic was or if we had the money. or as we walked around the park finding a photographer and getting several poses done and not having to worry about cost. we have them all for dollars not 10's of dollars. again i say its not for everyone but for my family it was. another tip if you do do photopass+ take a picture of it with you smart phone and it can be scanned by photographers if your group gets split up. that was a concer with us but the very first photographer told us about this and it worked out great.

To my understanding the price of Photopass is what it is..... in part that you are buying the copyrights to the photos.

We did the photopass+ in January and loved it. I have 2 grandchildren and they did pirate league and a couple of princess dinners. Plus all of our rides we thought it was a great value.

It's a great thing for people who want those pics and have the money to pay for it. I have purchased many an on-ride photo and would gladly have paid the $50 for that. :)

Yes - you're buying a digital copy and a release statement to say you are entitled to reproduce the image (print, etc). The latter being necessary because you didn't take the photos.

You're paying for the copyright release to have them printed. That isn't cheap.

Umm...I can take the same picture with my own camera and I'm not paying for copyright releases.
If I was going to use those pictures to make money, yes...but for personal use, no.

Not sure if you are saying paying for a release is bunkus... or you just think you should skip photopass and use your own camera period?

Don't know what to tell you...it's just the fact of the matter. Take Picture Me Portrait Studios/Sears Portrait Studio/Kiddie Kandids for example. It'll cost you $250 for just a CD of photos with copyright release and most people could hold a better photoshoot with an iPhone and a black bed sheet.
