Getting ready to book a spring vacation for 5 of us. Which would be better--the family suite at the All Stars or 2 rooms at Pop Century?

oo tuff call.. i would say get a double room at the pop, tell them that you have younger kids and that you need to be in the joining rooms cause often times they will tell you that they will try but can't grantee, the two older seem old enough that it would be cool to sleep in their own room it gives more to the magic of being down there cause they don't have that at home... you know lol. plus that way you are still right through the door. if they wont give you the double then i would go suit.
is this your first time at the pop?

You may find it more comfortable in a Family Suite, but if you are looking for the spring break period, I would book as soon as possible regardless of what you choose.

The Family Suites will give Mom & Dad a separate bedroom with a queen sized bed, and still allow each child a separate bed in the living room (the furniture pulls out to form 2 twin beds and a double bed.) Also for about the same cost as two Preferred Rooms with a refrigerator, you get a full kitchenette with a microwave, coffeemaker, sink and a larger under the counter refrigerator. You will still have 2 bathrooms and 2 sinks to help everyone get ready faster for your days in the parks.

On a side note, based on your party mix and the ages of your children, if you do go with 2 rooms you will be guaranteed connecting rooms. Connecting rooms are ONLY guaranteed for parties with one or two adults and any number of children ages 3-17 from the same household will not fit in one room, or want separate rooms. In all other cases, it is only a request and will be treated as such.

my family and i have time share, so we have a room at the boardwalk, so we usually either stay there or at a all star resort. we went to the opening of POP its my favorite place to stay we saw SO many people at the opening i even got a autograph and picture with Michael Izner (not sure how to spell his last name.)

we haven't stayed in a suit there, so that i really can't help with, but my mom and dad use to do that all the time with us... it was fun cause we felt like we were on our own vacation and didn't have to squeeze into the room.

So, by going down with my 3 kids and wife, we wouldn't be guaranteed a connecting room? When I read up on it, I thought we would considering PC only allows 4 ppl and with a 3 yr we now be considered 5.

In your case, yes, you would be guaranteed connecting rooms. You stated you have exactly 2 adults, and 3 children ages 14, 11, and 3.

There are not a lot of family suites, they book up really fast. If you do two rooms, keep in mind, Disney will not guarantee that they will be connecting rooms, which means the adults will have to split up. They do try to honor requests when possilbe, but again this is not a guarantee. I would do the family suite to be sure and not have to worry about it.
