Disney's Hollywood Studios to host an opening night event to celebrate the Force Awakens

Haven't yet got my confirmation email but they have deducted the money from my bank account already and its still "spinning" on the :payment screen of my ipad... so theoretically I should have tickets to the 7:05 showing for the event ...

I think we just broke the internet. AMC website still not functioning, but I was able to get tickets via the app. Not IMAX 3D, just 3D but we got them.

If the card went through you should be fine. It's crazy, I got mine earlier tonight by chance on Fandango before the craziness, and it seems that every ticket website is now wonky. Even the local ones for the regional theaters seem to be at a deadstop.

I just started playing around with the AMC app and the website just to see how bad it was and it still isn't working.

This is not the first time Disney sells tickets for a special event at the parks. To do it on the same website that just started selling tickets to the most anticipated movie in a while is just asking for trouble. They could have done this so much better.

They should have done it through their website that (hopefully) can handle a larger crowd

This is the first Star Wars movie to be released in 10 years and with many of the original cast members. At least part of the blame falls on AMC for not anticipating how obviously huge advance sales were going to be. They've had ample time to prepare, there's no excuse for it.

I wound up getting them at my local Cinemark. It seems that every other movie ticket site (AMC, Fandango and Regal) were down.

My brother went up to the theater to order ours... uneducated teller told him they only do pre-sales the day before for movies and refused to help him... He came home and after much frustration... WE ARE GOING AT 7PM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO EXCITED. Trailer is amazing 2 by the way!

Just bought tickets for IMAX on the 18th through the app with no problem. And either they added more theatres at my AMC or things are now working. Read that for the first month, all IMAXs in North America will be showing just The Force Awakens. If true, that's clout.
