Disney's Best Kept Secret???

The wife and I had to chuckle on our trip last month, because we kept seeing all this signage for the vacation club, referring to it as Disney's "best kept secret". Apparently not a very good secret if they're practically shouting it off mountaintops and going to such effort to advertise it.

Sorry, for the irrelevance of this thread, but that was a thought that kept occuring to me, so in my bored time here at the library before I go back to work, I thought I'd voice that. LOL

Only in WDW do you make you have kiosks at every park, and signs all over the place, and then brag about what a well kept "secret" it is. :ROFLOL:

The DVC is not a very good secret. I think the boat from Epcot to MGM is the best kept secret. May not be a very useful secret but still a secret.

Exactly. I really think they need to come up with a better advertising slogan. Going all out to advertise their product, while simultaneously calling it a "secret" (such a well kept secret at that) is kind of self contradictory.

I've got news for you, the fact that you're discussing it makes it a great advertising gimmick.

It sort of made sense when they started using it, but how long has that been the slogan now? 5 years? More? I think the secret is out.

I think also when you join you discover lots of little secrets that I've observed but won't reveal! It does seem really cool; if I make enough money and live long enough in the future I would love to join!

Well I can see why they say it is a secret. Before I went to Disney last month, I had NEVER heard about the vacation club at all ever, not even when I looked at timeshare sites and places a few years ago. I "heard" about it once I got to Disney mostly on the tv channel they have dedicated to it in the resorts, but short of that just saw a few kiosks about it and figured it was out of my league moneywise and paid no attention to it. So of course by chance my wife has a great conversation about anything other than Disney with a woman named Marty sitting on the porch while waiting for me to get my 800+ pictures dumped off my broken camera at the photo emporium at MK next to Tony's. So it ended up that we went to listen to the DVC spiel to get free water, ice creme, fast passes and sit in some air conditioning for 40 minutes after I came back and we were ready to go. So we went, listened, got the stuff, was overwhelmed by the lack of a hard sell, and by the courtesey of the people there. Didn't buy a thing, had a few things between then and getting home that led us to understand what a great deal it was and decided to join a few days after getting home. Free plane tix that cost us over $2k to go that we got at the airport from AirTran was one of the "signs" for us to join as we like to joke about now. But in all honesty before that afternoon, I had an idea about the vacation club only after visiting Disney, but prior to that it certainly was a secret to me. A very pleasant one now I might add and I can't wait to hear them say "Welcome Home!" to me next April when we go back to Disney for the second time of many years to come!:D

LOL.... we are working on a new slogan. But guy's let me tell you. I represent the "secret" each and every single work day of my life.

IT STILL IS A SECRET.

Especially because 80% of guests I talk to are on their last day and can't fit an Open House into their day, which is what all of us reps are their for. We try getting word out as much as possible so that we don't end up with a guest on their way out who can't do the Open House.

But I do agree it might time fo ra new campaign.

Actually I thought it would be nice to follow a good Disney motto:

IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, YOU CAN DO IT!
