whatever it was.. it sold out in minutes?

It appears that the Blue Sky Cellar is going to be the 60th preview center, so the parks blog opened registration for a small preview event before the public announcement that morning. There will still be a media event to announce the anniversary celebration that day, but the parks blog meetup event is sold out.

So I'm guessing that blue sky cellar won't open up on the first. But after or possibly on the 17th? Are the registered previews going to take place inside of the blue sky cellar I'm guessing?

Spotted today at DL: Bob Iger, Mary Niven, Michael Colglazier, Tom Staggs. Just a casual tour as the park prepares for the 60th, or perhaps a visit related to something even bigger? :)

The preview event will likely take place inside DCA's stage 17.

So far, all we have are rumors and speculation, and they are:

Nostalgia-themed celebration for the occasion
Upgrades for Fantasyland dark rides
Return of the MSEP
New night parade (highly doubt it)
New parade for DCA (doubt that one, too)

As we get closer to the official announcement, here's a revised list of what we can expect (based on recent rumors)

Disneyland:
- New night parade (and/or fireworks show?)
- Fantasyland dark ride upgrades
- The return of the Golden Horseshoe Revue
- Diamond-makeover for Sleeping Beauty Castle

At DCA:
- World of Color 2.0 (a major show update to coincide with the show's 5th anniversary)
- Soarin' update

This is the first time I've heard of an SBC makeover and a WoC update. Where did you hear these rumors?

It was originally stated on a Miceage update when they were barely covering the 60th last year. Possibly around October or November? It could still happen I bet, but I haven't heard too much of it as of recently.

If I remember correctly, the diamond makeover info was shared by MouseInfo.

As far as World of Color, it was hinted at by someone who works very close with the show (not Steve Davison). They've been waiting to implement the new effects that were installed for Winter Dreams into the regular show. We'll see if it happens or not, but at the very least we can expect a new scene -- it's been two years since Brave was added to the show!

It would definitely make sense. A five year anniversary is usually considered a milestone. I'd be all for some new additions to the show.

It'd be fun if we got our little "gang" together next year for the anniversary. You're planning on being there, right sponono?

Yes I will be there! we should plan something once we get closer to the anniversary date.

On a separate note, it seems like the Blue Sky Cellar reopening date has been moved back to September.. although it could be a placeholder date until they announce an official reopening. It would be nice to have it ready in time for the blog event.

Sounds like a plan!

They moved it back two whole months? That is strange, wonder what's going on?

Could the Castle Show be some kind of "diamond" related thing similar to the lighting of Cinderella's Castle each night during the Christmas season. Perhaps the Diamond accents on the castle are glistening LED lights that can sparkle and animate during a special lighting ceremony each night featuring audio and projected clips of Walt along with Mickey hosting the whole thing. It would be small, but it would certainly count as a "castle show".
