Disneyland's 60th Birthday: Rumors, Speculation and News

So, my awareness of DLR is still in the newbie phase (due to my pending visit in 2015), but I see even on the West Coast, there is still a lot of back and forth about Disney vs. Universal. Darn. Was hoping to avoid some of that...

There's nothing to avoid. Any fan of Disney Parks, especially one who is willing to venture out of the Orlando comfort zone, should develop a pallet for fine quality in theme parks. It's only natural to seek out, apperciate, and enjoy quality when it's on display.

Anyone passionate enough about WDW should head down I-4 and see what use to be possible and be reminded of what they level of show quality should be expected from Disney Parks across the country.

The only thing DLR resort is worried about with Potter is how much of bump in their own attendance will happen with Universal opens it. They need to have space inside of Disneyland for all those potential tourists coming into SoCal that haven't been able to go to Studios in Orlando because they know a high percentage of them will be also stopping in to see the Mouse.

The same thing is true in Orlando; but, the key difference is that in Orlando they don't care if Universal's turnstiles spin... they only care if that guest spends a night at a non-Disney resort.

Keep Moving Forward
From the Disneyland Passholder newsletter. Coming May 2015. I believe this is the first time Disney has mentioned the month.

One of the biggest bashes in Disneyland® Resort history is coming next May! Find out more about the dazzling Diamond Celebration announced on July 17.

You are right here is the original logo - seems they added more sparkle

The 65th will probably have Star Wars Land and Monstropolis done by than so they probably wont feel like they need to maintain the park or add any new shows.

While in Orlando there will likely be things announced... and coming at some indefinite point in the future.

Make your FP+ reservations now along with your payments towards DVC.

I wouldn't worry about TDA. The only way I see them dropping the ball completely is if TDO actually starts needing more money for actual items that would impact show quality (like rides and attractions) and not behind the wall infrastructure (like MM+ and resort infrastructure).

Why do I feel like this celebration is just going to consist of mostly merchandise, lame limited time magic and having people hashtag their selfies?

You just described the 59th Anniversary.

But I am not worried about the 60th Anniversary. There appears to be quite a lot of meat on the bones, if all these recent rumors hold true.

All I know is that TDA has big shoes to fill, because the 50th Anniversary was extraordinary!

Either way, if it's a dud, I'm still going to try and head over to SoCal next year for vacation, and of course Disneyland will be one of my main stops.

California during the summer is just gorgeous! I'm jealous of all you people!

I'm sure the 60th Diamond Celebration will be stellar.

I've lived in about a dozen other states all around the country, and most of those places have their various charms and selling points. Only one region of the country I absolutely hated and wouldn't mind one bit if we traded it to the Canadians for a pound of good bacon.

But I think there's no better climate than Southern California, without leaving the North American continent entirely. It also helps that SoCal is also a sophisticated, stylish, affluent and fun region in which to live with about four million things to do. Disneyland is just one of them. :)

Wow, just a tiny peak, but that was fantastic!

I can only imagine an entire parade route filled with those costumes and that fresh soundtrack on a warm summer evening at Disneyland. Pure magic.

If they don't bring a version of this to Anaheim for the 60th, they are idiots. This is exactly what's been missing from Disneyland for too long.
