I did the food festival yesterday and didn't have any issues. Actually felt this was one of the better-run versions of the festival, with a lot of people staffed working the various booths (both cashiers and food prep/serving) so we always got our orders relatively quickly. Food was also solid - cheeseburger bao was interesting as was the cheese pizza wings, but that might have been the best pork belly they've had in awhile and the Impossible items were really good.

We were initially shocked by the long lines when we walked in but we kept walking and the booths near Mermaid were much shorter, once we realized we could order any item from any booth it was a game changer, we’d order 3-4 items at a time and then just grab them whenever we were near their booth. I think my favorite items were the Top Sirloin (I got this twice), the garlic Mac n cheese, the pulled pork mac n cheese, and the brisket slider… I found the cheeseburger bao just ok, and I was a bit disappointed by the fish tacos and the pastrami fries. We are going back in April and I’ll definitely get another pass, we’ll probably share one instead of getting two though.

We‘d never claim Food and Wine is a good value but we find it interesting and a lot of fun.

About Tomorrowland, while I agree it is certainly in need of sprucing up, I feel a little trepidation about it with a new Tron movie in production. The temptation to add the namesake coaster to Disneyland is probably strong, but ill advised. I would not oppose a Tron attraction, the series is a good fit for the land. Just not a roller coaster that would make Space Mountain and the Matterhorn look like hills in comparison.

I love tron and can't wait to ride it in mk someday but please don't bring it to ca. At least not in the subs autopia spot. Even though I strongly dislike those 2 rides they are both long and family friendly and tron is a 1 minute launch coaster.

That’s atrocious lol. I would mind a Tron show building in the bus transpo hub though with the light cycles weaving through Tomorrowland. I think. I’d have to see how obnoxious that show building is and what it does to the sight lines from there.

That show building is obnoxious. Period. I don't think it matters where you put it. In my mind, the only way Tron fits in our TL is if they totally rework the layout and remove the overwhelming "puffy vest" canopy. Put the show building underground and/or behind trees/berm. I agree that the outside portion of the ride should weave through part of Tomorrowland for kinetic energy.

Better yet: build something else.

I think a Tron style ride could work well if they rethemed it and put it in Galaxies Edge. They could hide the show building behind mountains and replace the canopy with a spaceport and more stores, use the launch as if you are escaping stormtroopers and swooping up and over the shops before entering the show building and you’re in space escaping the dark side ships. It could even fly over the existing shops to add some kinetic energy to the land.

I certainly don't want Tron to be built at DL, but unfortunately, that canopy-and the pathways that allow park guests to get up and feel enveloped by the ride-is a signature component of the experience. It's what makes the ride enticing to guests, and gives the ride-and its plaza-a kinectic energy that, say, Space Mountain doesn't really possess.

If we get Tron (and I imagine it's fair to say we're more likely to get a Tron clone than any other coaster at the moment), we're almost certainly getting the canopy, even if there's almost no way it could be integrated into the existing parks as is without being offputting.

Sure, it could just be a spindly tower of some kind, or it could be something with volume and could actually hold decent attraction space inside it.

I definitely think this would be a case of sneaking in permission to do anything they want, rather than having a specific plan. Anything that has ever faced opposition is being placed in the shiny wrapper.

I’m highly dubious they would want to exceed 200 feet. Spaceship earth is only 180.

Right, but the original plan for Westcot’s SpaceStation Earth was to hold a few Future World attractions in it, not just one. So it needed to be 300 ft tall.

The Matterhorn?! I could get on board with the subs and autopia going to get a new land. But the Matterhorn needs to stay.

These don't even pertain to Disneyland Forward, which is primarily concerned with upzoning hotel, parking and commercial land for theme park uses.

While I very much appreciate a genuinely unpopular opinion, this just sounds like your general wish list for Disneyland?

Armchair Imagineering or miscellaneous thoughts might be a more appropriate thread, but I am genuinely curious: fantasyland theater, bigger castle and subs/autopia are understandable (not Matterhorn) but why would Thunder Mountain and Adventureland merit attention before Tomorrowland?

If we zoom out to consider the entire resort, as Disneyland Forward does, all the new expansion space and DCA's multitude of problem areas would all be much higher priorities than Thunder Mountain or Adventureland. I can't see either being worth re-imagining for honestly 15-20 years
