I went to Disneyland when I was 3 or 4 months pregnant and with a 10 month old in tow. I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have probably. It's really like comparing apples and oranges, since each is similar but still different. I prefer It's a Small World at the land, the outside decorations are sooo cute and just the whole ride feels different.

I was just watching a couple of youtube vids after posting this thread. I saw that
Mk has better:
Splash
haunted Mansion ( I personally dont like hm holiday)
Dl has better
small world
pirates

Which rides does Disneyland have that the world does not have. Tell me which rides you like better from the two resorts.

As previous poster said - apples and oranges. Disneyland / California Adventure are in a smaller space in Anaheim as opposed to Walt Disney World in Orlando / Lake Buena Vista, which is a sprawling, expansive resort with several hotels, four major parks, two water parks, a shopping district, and a wilderness campground.

Each Disney park across the globe has similar rides and experiences but of the five cities, each Disney property has its own cultural look and feel.

As for Disneyland / Adventure in Anaheim, the park has California Screamin' rollercoaster, Monsters Inc dark ride, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, Autopia, Alice in Wonderland, Casey Jr Circus Train, Big Thunder Ranch petting zoo, the Matterhorn, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, Indiana Jones Adventure, Pinocchio's Daring Journey, the pirate lair on Tom Sawyer Island, Davy Crockett canoes, Storybook Land, and Grizzly Bear Run.

Click here for a list of rides / attractions at Paris Disneyland / Walt Disney Studios.

Click here to view what encompasses Tokyo Disneyland / Tokyo DisneySea.

And click here for Hong Kong Disneyland info.

You can`t compare Disneyland to WDW.

You can compare Disneylands original park to WDWs Magic Kingdom though. And you may be surprised at the result. I`m a WDW veteran, and just returned from my first DL trip. All things considered, and remembering each has their merits and flaws, I found I prefer DLs park. Shock horror.

Obviously, there is much, much more at Dsiney World. Disneyland has intimate touches, however. It is much more easier to connect the two parks. I've heard horror stories of trying to get to one part of Disney World to another. It's SUPER complicated. Disneyland has some rides that Disney World doesn't have, like: Matterhorn Bobsleds, Indiana Jones Adventure, Autopia, and Tarzan's Treehouse to name a few.

DL has the mattehorn and Indiana Jones Adventure. Those 2 alone are worth the visit.

Also Pirates out there is better (and longer).
Along with a better Buzz Lightyear, on board music on Space Mountain, Autopia, Mr. Toad's wild ride and an equally great Fantasmic!

DL has Undersea Nemo ride which replaced 20,000 Leagues, it was opening weekend when we went so we didn't get to try it out as the line was forever long, about a 3 hour wait that this pregnant twin mommy with 10 month old was not going to stand in.

I am actually sort of glad we don't have the same as DL though, gives you another reason to try a new place. I will say though, Fantasmic over there was awesome. We had seen the the MK version just about 2 months earlier.

As someone else said, only fair comparison is Disneyland Park versus Magic Kingdom. I've read and heard many people prefer Disneyland, but I've heard the same prefer the Magic Kingdom, as it's bigger and gives you a feeling of being in a completely different world.

The entire Disneyland Resort can fit into the Magic Kingdom's parking lot. You can't compare the two.

Not to split hairs, but DL never had 20K Leagues. It was always the Submarine Voyage from the day it opened in 1959 until it closed down in 1998. The two attractions were very similar so it's an easy mistake to make. But the Submarine Voyage was meant to pay homage to the first submarine expedition to the polar ice caps, whereas the 20K Leagues attraction was based on the movie of the same name.

Also, it wouldn't really be accurate to say that Nemo replaced the Submarine Voyage. After the subs closed, they stayed that way for nearly 9 years. Nemo was really more of a "rebirth" of the attraction which many people believed would never return.

None of the above probably really matters in the grand scheme of things, but just wanted to set the record straight.

I promise I'm not one of those people who goes around correcting unimportant facts, but I couldn't resist this one, as it's an very often misquoted "fact". The "entire Disneyland Resort" would not fit in MK's parking lot. Keep in mind the DL Resort is 2 theme parks, plus Downtown Disney, plus 3 hotels, plus parking of it's own (and backstage areas if you want to count those as well). That's much bigger than one single parking lot at MK (which is about 125 acres).

What you probably meant to say was that either of the two DLR theme parks could fit into MK's parking lot. That sounds impressive, but the fact is that most theme parks in the world are actually smaller than their own respective parking lots. Before DCA was built, DL could have easily fit into it's OWN parking lot. And MK, at just over 100 acres, could most definitely also fit into it's own parking lot as well.

I think a more impressive fact is that the entire DL theme park (theme park, not the whole resort) could fit inside World Showcase Lagoon with room to spare.

WDW obviously has a lot more to offer, but I'd go to DL just to see what it's like.

I'm not surprised at all. I figured that would be the general result from your first visit.

Seriously, it's very rare for that to not be the case when a WDW regular visits Disneyland for the first time. Sounds like you enjoyed your trip, and I hope there'll be a TR from ya!

Which rides does Disneyland have that the world dors not have. Tell me which rides you like better from the two resorts.

The following are Disneyland rides not found at any WDW park;

Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
Matterhorn Bobsleds
Indiana Jones Adventure
Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin
Storybookland Canal Boats
Casey Jr. Circus Train
Alice In Wonderland
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Pinocchio's Daring Journey
Sleeping Beauty Castle Tour (Walkthrough Diorama)
Grand Canyon Diorama & Primeval World (along Disneyland Railroad)
Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes
Big Thunder Ranch petting zoo
Sailing Ship Columbia
Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island
Main Street Cinema
The Disneyland Story featuring Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln
Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room (original 1963 show)

The following are Disney California Adventure rides not found at WDW

California Screamin'
Mickey's Fun Wheel
King Triton's Carousel
Silly Symphony Swings
Goofy's Sky School
Golden Zephyr
Jumpin' Jellyfish
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
Grizzly River Run
Disney Animation
Monsters Inc. Mike & Sulley To The Rescue!

Of the rides that are shared between the two properties, I've always felt Magic Kingdom has a much better Splash Mountain. The Disneyland version has more animatronics, but the scenes are more jumbled and you zip past things faster. After riding it many times once it opened at Disneyland in 1989, I didn't even know Splash Mountain had a plotline until I rode the WDW version in the mid 1990's! :o

WDW used to have the better Jungle Cruise too, with the indoor temple portion. But after a significant upgrade with lots of splashy effects (no pun intended) in '05, Disneyland now has the better Jungle Cruise. The Tiki Room is vastly superior at Disneyland with a beautifully cared for 1963 show still playing, compared to the horrific version installed at WDW that has all the charm of a tacky 1990's wedding reception.

Many Disneyland rides are noticeably longer than their WDW counterparts. Disneyland's Pirates is 16 minutes long, while the WDW version is 8 minutes long. Disneyland's Small World is 15 minutes long, while the WDW is 9 minutes long. Haunted Mansion's Doom Buggy portion at WDW is longer at 9 minutes though, compared to Disneyland's 7 minute long version where you walk through some similar scenes that you ride through at WDW. Disneyland's Rivers of America is much better in my opinion because of the variety of ways to get around; via Mark Twain Riverboat, or Davy Crockett Canoe, or the gorgeous Sailing Ship Columbia. At WDW the only way around the river is by the sole Liberty Square Riverboat.

Each property has it's charms and positives and negatives. You really must see and experience them both to understand. But when you look at Magic Kingdom Park compared to Disneyland Park, Disneyland almost always comes out the winner. If and when Disneyland gets a PeopleMover back and does something constructive with the Innoventions revolving building, it will be very hard for the Magic Kingdom to catch up.

You are correct - I mistyped. What I meant to say was the entire Disneyland Resort can fit into the Animal Kingdom. I always hear that parking lot thing and forget it's actually AK.

Excellent points! Another thing that has always bothered me about the DL version of Splash is that if you happen to look up at all during the ride, the illusion is completely ruined. It is painfully obvious that you are inside a warehouse basically. You can see all the ceiling lighting, etc. I could never understand why they didn't even try to hide that. At MK, they have done a great job of disguising the ceiling and thereby not breaking the illusion. Another thing is the single file style of seating. It's as though when they were designing Splash, it didn't occur to them that they could break from tradition as far as flume rides were concerned. I think Tokyo was actually the first Splash Mt to have side by side seating, and that was due to cultural reasons. But it's almost like once they did that, the lightbulb went on and they remembered "Oh yeah, that's right, we're DISNEY! We 'invented' thinking outside the box, and don't have to design our ride vehicles the same way every other theme park designs theirs!"

If and when Disneyland gets a PeopleMover back and does something constructive with the Innoventions revolving building, it will be very hard for the Magic Kingdom to catch up.

I wish they would either bring the PeopleMover back (which would be far and away my first choice) or tear down the track. Without anything running on it, it's just an eyesore on the Tomorrowland skyline.
