Disneyland up north.

They were gonna build in Virginia a few years back, but the folks there didn't want a theme park next to the battlefields, so they skipped that idea.

I heard it was because folks didn't want all kinds of "tourist" traffic making their commute even worse on I-95...

And to the OP...Orlando is just a short flight away :)

Dude, this is the second thread you've started on this subject. It had a run of a few pages, then died off. That's what threads do. You don't need to start a new one for the same subject.

if people reply he will keep posting. kinda like i am doing :hammer:

It would be too expensive and difficult to run. As nice as it would be to have a Disney north, as it owuld be closer for me. It would take away from the lustre. Also, I think the winters in Japan are more tolerable than the north.

What part of Long Island??

I would love for Disney to be less than an hour away with no flight or anything but the traffic in NY would increase ridiculously and i would probably sell my car because of it. Also from mid November-March no one would go probably.

I wish they would keep the gruman property preserved but cince the land is for sale Why not build one there. Its close to the end of the LIE so realey the tourist traffic will not be so bad. Its an hour and a half away from the city. Riverhead and brookhaven are 2 boaring areas anyway, They are both runed down places and need some economy. Rout 25 / Jerico Turnpike closer into riverhead is already developed and is packed with hotels. Atlantis Aquarium and Splish Splash are doing very well as I have heard and there always packed.

Disney had plans to build a theme park in Virginia based on American history. I had seen plans for it somewhere (can't remember now) and the land was going to incorporate a large open space for reenactments and such.

Issue being that the land they wanted actually encroached on a battle site. Ultimately Disney decided against it.

The White Mountain region of NH has quite a few theme parks.

Clarks Trading Post
Santa's Village
Storybook Land
Six Gun City

To name a few off the top of my head, all within a hour of each other.

They survive because they close in the winter, only open on weekends in the spring and fall, and hire people on a seasonal basis. And because the area is a tourist mecca.

While they are pretty nice (some moreso than others) they are no way up to the level of a Disney park.

In order to maintain a park that is at the level of Disney - it has to be open more than 90 - 100 days a year.

Hershey park does a little better - it also has a longer season, but while nice (and has some great coasters) the show level is no where near the level of WDW

I'm from Northern Europe.

While I love DLP, grey skies and dismal weather don't really help the magic.

Walt knew what he was doing when he bought that land under the Florida sun!

hmm

There wont be a disney in the north east. I would say atleast 25 percent of all wdw attendance has to be from the North east. Last weekn everytime somebody asked where people were from it was either NY or NJ.

I can see a Disney Hotel coming to NYC (it was rumoured to happen and I think it fell through last eyar) . The only other thing that is a far out thought and would prob never happen is if disney buys great adventure from Six Flags for cheap. Like i said would never happen but has like a.5 percent chance of happening especially with the marvel deal.

So dont expect a park in the North East it would effect wdw in florida's attendance dramatically.

I'd venture to say that 50-70% of the people currently living in Florida ARE from NY or NJ, lol...

I am an idiot. I just realized theres the amazing scene of watching wishes in the snow but then people want to get into the warm climate and disney is the perfect excuse so noone would go there in the winter. But then I was talking to someone I know from florida and she said that she would want to see that so maby I am beating myself to much.

What is this disney vacation club. Some sight said they were going to build one on long island by the rosevelt field mall. Is that just rumor. There is also a little thing on having a mini disney in yapank long island. Type it in on google it is probaly nothing and a rumor but my wishful thinking says theres hope. This was the title "Long Island investment group proposes mini Disney World for 350 acres of land in Yaphank" They also were talking about a race track. If it is run by disney or is like disney I dont know. Probaly a gimic.

Disney is opening up a Disney Vacation Club store in the Rosevelt Field Mall . It shows you how many NYers go to wdw that they feel they should open a dvc store here. The Store soft opens at the end of this month and has a grand opening Oct 17. Ill try to be there to get pics .

I think sometime in the future that sdvc hotel in NYC Might happen though with the broadway play, rumours of the cruise ships docking at nyc and other things i feel the nyc market needs something more. A lot of people would stay at a disney hotel in NYC .

Santa's might still be open during Christmas - but the others are not.

I think Clarks is the best of them all. They do a really nice job there, and they have quite an amazing collection of, well, stuff. Old typewriters, mutated animals, fire fighting equipment, electronics, old china, etc. They have amassed quite a museum collection over the years.

I don't know when you were last at Clark's, but they now have Segways. Yes, Segway rides, and they are included with your admission.

You go over by the tilted house (I forget the real name) - Not Merlins Mystical House, the other one, the old one. You get to ride normal Segways on a dirt trail alongside the railroad tracks. You ride for like 3 minutes, and then let somone else take a turn. Yes, they even let small children (like my daughter who was 7 at the time) ride them.

If you want to pay $15 extra (I think its $15) you can take a 45 minute tour on the off road X2's over the covered bridge back in "Wolfman Territory" - Gotta love that wolfman :)

WOLFMAN WOLFMAN ..... IN HIS CAVE ..... HE NEEDS SOME .... BURMA SHAVE. :)

I miss it there so much. Ether they got a new Wolfman or his hair and beard got mad ling. I remember he had a beard like the dream-finders and always wore the raccoon skin hat. I also miss the bear show. Like I said I want to open a place like that except an innoventions type theme. I am going to make a fountain show which I already did with a christmas light system and some old fountain pumps. I used to use epcot music but now its all blue man group. Sometimes the best places are those little ones you can just sit and enjoy the atmosphere kind of like innoventions when its empty. By the way I think beeing wolfman is probaly the best job there is out there.
