Do you like The Country Bears?

By all means, I love it! But I can understand why others would not like it at all. Like whatsoever.

I think The Country Bear Jamboree would work well as its own dine-and-show atmosphere. But more of the* style of Sonny Eclipse, where it is not a table service restaurant. Kind of more like an extension to the cafe next door.

So by that reasoning, if more changes were made to the Tiki Room, it could still be considered original.

Correct, it came first before the other Tiki Rooms. Just like Disneyland. Have you ever heard someone claim Disneyland is not the original Disney park because there have been changes made since its opening nearly 61 years ago?

Why couldn't they have kept one theater and also added Pooh bear?
It looks like the both theaters were used and the ride would have been even smaller if they didn't. I think they could have used the building space better for a longer ride.

No. I'm not referring to Disneyland as a whole, just stating that changes could be made to the Tiki Room attraction while still honoring it's history.

I agree, but a change like turning it into a restaurant is something completely different. A change like adding another segment to the show, or adding another bird is one thing, but to turn a quaint show/attraction into a table service restaurant does not honor it.

Disney likes to ruin tradition. This is why one can no longer get the Mickey Mouse-shaped pancakes at River Belle and watch Fantasmic! without having to buy some sort of table service meal now. It's ridiculous. The Enchanted Tiki Room shouldn't be subjected to something like that, where guests would have to purchase a meal to see the show.

Lets just stop the argument and agree to disagree guys. All this is, is a matter of opinion. So the argument on both sides is NOT going to go anywhere.

I can see how requiring guests to purchase a meal in order to see the show would make a big difference. However, to say that Disney likes to ruin tradition because they decided to move Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes to Rancho del Zocalo instead of River Belle seems really over the top.

It's not over the top to me, and not to others. Go ahead and look at the comments from the article DPB posted regarding River Belle. A lot of us grew up eating pancakes at the River Belle. It's been a Disneyland tradition for decades, and now that option is no longer available, including getting nice seats at the restaurant to watch Fantasmic!. It's not over the top to me.

Disney also got rid of the CM Christmas parties, another tradition that lasted for decades. Thankfully I caught the last one before they went away. Stuff like that bothers some people, including myself.

I can completely understand being personally upset by a change made to the park. What I think is over the top is stating the changes are made because Disney likes to ruin tradition. Do you really think they moved breakfast to a different restaurant for the single purpose of ruining tradition?

They moved breakfast to accommodate table service options and the Fantasmic! dining package, which was a very corporate move, so yes, I believe they like to ruin tradition. They do it to satisfy their money-hungry appetite.

*raises hand*

This started with someone casually suggesting that the Tiki Room could use an update, which angered some folks, and now we're debating where pancakes should be sold in the park. It's getting weird. I can relate to being bothered by a 14 acre Star Wars expansion, but the hyperbolic sensitivity and anger about literally everything, including something as trivial as a change in dining service, crosses the line into eccentricity.

It's not really trivial, is it? I loved getting breakfast at River Belle Terrace. Mickey Pancakes with craploads of toppings from the bar? Heck yes. The outdoor seating really can't be beat. I suppose this can still be done (possibly), but you'd have to get breakfast at Rancho del Food Poisoning and bring it over to River Belle. That's also assuming that Rancho will inherit the toppings bar.

Not to mention watching the Mark Twain sail by as you eat your pancakes.
