Honestly, it's magnificent. There is so much kinetic energy and so many animals. What a major improvement over Tarzan's Treehouse, and not even over Tarzan's Treehouse but even the original Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. It's wonderful to see so much love given to the Treehouse. My cynical mind tells me much of this will stop working by next summer, but right now I just want to acknowledge the great work the Imagineers did in putting this together. Well worth the wait and I hope the Imagineers responsible for this upgrade are in charge of many more projects to come.

These were my thoughts as well but tbh I don’t remember much about the original Swiss family treehouse. But from what I do remember I’d say it’s Swiss Family Robindaughter treehouse for the win.

I confess I have no recollection of the original treehouse as it closed shortly after I was born, but from photos and videos, as well as comparing it to Disney World's current version, it lacked the life present in this new iteration.

I will say, however, they should bring back the live macaws, but I'm not holding my breath.

That would be awesome but perhaps make the bird AAs at the top of the treehouse and over at tiki room feel a bit underwhelming?

Anyway cool to think we most likely have the best iteration of any treehouse ever at Disneyland.

How wonderful. Looks great at night also.

Love how each room has kinetics and life. Actually feels like something worthwhile doing while at Disneyland.

Great job!

It will be for the first month and then 90% of guests will walk right past it like every other iteration of the treehouse. I’m just glad trees are taller than they are wide because if that real estate was on the ground it wouldn’t be standing today.

love this soo much, disney is killing it imo lately in CA with the new toontown (although tt has its problems) and this new treehouse. Im hopeful for what Tianas Bayou as well, I think they will do a good job with it too. And the new HM que area and gift shop.....good stuff happening in CA lately imo.
Agree, they are doing some good stuff in DL, unfortunately the result (along with the holidays) is a calendar with a lot of sold out days for passholders.

We booked a trip a couple weeks ago and the calendar reminded me of last year.

Dusty got to go up this morning with Kim Irvine and has an article with details and some interesting insight:

We’ve been tracking the former Tarzan Treehouse, originally the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, which closed without warning in September of 2021. The entire project was a challenge as it is all shoehorned into a tiny footprint, had old infrastructure that needed to be completely updated, and incorporates modern technology in a much more natural feeling way than the old Tarzan Treehouse.

….

The attraction took more than two years to complete after the sudden closure of Tarzan Treehouse. But there’s a reason for that… This old structure required a lot of work and presented challenges as a new generation of Imagineers needed to upgrade the entire structure for today’s audiences and safety guidelines. All of the props had to be crafted from scratch. And, Disney took quite a bit of time to decide what the theme of the new attraction would be. And, yes, they did consider Encanto and other things for a while.

That treehouse is pretty incredible. So much motion and lots of animals. It is much better than the Disney Story statues. I'm not sure if that is really four years worth of work but at least it is open. Great job Kim!

The treehouse closed in September 2021, so by my calculations that is two years, two-ish months from close to reopening.

Which is still absurdly long.

But it sounds like some major work needed to be done with the actual structure...
