Not sure Texas really makes a lot of sense form a corporate standpoint. Taxes and the price of land would be a big part of the equation and although Texas had no state income tax for individuals... it does have a rather high corporate tax rate (franchise tax) that would hit them with 1% of gross revenue... frankly if I'm an amusement park that type of tax coupled with exceedingly high property taxes would have me looking elsewhere.

I suspect the only way they would make any type of new park in the US would be if a state was inclined to provide them with a very significant and long termed pass on property taxes... and provide other incentives.

But the biggest issue would be the why locate in the center of the US when they target more and more foreign visitors? And if you wanted a central spot in the US... why pick Texas? Wouldn't they be better off going north to Oklahoma or Kansas where they could get more land for less money and have much lower overall taxes (when you combine all taxes a business is hit with, Texas is usually ranked in the top 10 most expensive... places like Oklahoma are and Kansas are in the bottom half of expenses). Not to mention they would be truly more central to the whole country than Texas and not nearly as over crowded with tourist stuff... Remember when Walt went to Orlando it wasn't already filled with Seaworld and the other parks it was a swampy nowhere... Some open plains in Oklahoma or Kansas would be more in line with that type of thought process.... get a clean slate and let the infrastructure develop around you.

Even North Texas=snow and ice...Central Texas, not so much.

I've lived in Austin (far northwest right now and for most of that time) since '76, and as far back as '78 we heard rumors that Disney was gonna' build a resort just a few miles down the road from us. The area rumored back then is now all upper middle-class neighborhoods.
And, as recently as 2 years ago, I heard another rumor that Disney was purchasing land under assumed names (sound familiar? ) near a new planned Sclitterbahn resort a few miles north of us just outside a town called Cedar Park.
Point is, we've been hearin' these rumors for years, and although I'd personally LOVE to have a new Disney resort just a hop, skip, and a jump down the road, TWDC really needs to get it's P&R act together elsewhere, for the time being.
But, oh to dream...
