3 permits issued for the cupcake shop.

Plumbing to install (1) kitchen sink, (2) lavatories, (1) water heater, (1) floor drain, (1) floor sink and (1) service mop sink. Downtown Disney - Building G, unit 105 - "SPRINKELS CUP CAKE".

Electrical for (46) receptacles, lights and switches for Downtown Disney - Building G, unit 105 "SPRINKELS CUP CAKE".

Mechanical to relocate (1) duct and install (4) new ducts for Downtown Disney - Building G, unit 105 "SPRINKELS CUP CAKE".

Cupcakes are still a thing in Orange County, enough to warrant a new specialty cupcake shop? What is this, 2009?

The Planning Commission website is showing that the Hotel Menage is asking for a total remodel of the Hotel, not building anything new, just a total gut job of rooms, lobby and all interior spaces.though..... Submitted October 19th.

Wait, what is this?

It looks like that is addressing the "bridge" area over Disneyland Drive.

So things like the stands (limit of 10 aka canopies???)

That is an educated guess.

Or, could this be the beginnings of the new expanded security perimeter scheme? This is a less than educated guess, but terms like Egress plans, temporary fences, and canopies bring up visions of the current security situation and make me wonder about the similarities...

Let's do some Blue Sky, if Disney does this, I presume it would be the area near the Rainforest Cafe, and eliminate the Monorail security check.

But you would also have to add acess to the restrooms next to the Lego store, and then near Sephora for the GCH, but the big one is the Mickey & Friends Tram and public sidewalk next to it. You have an easy to open emergency gate now near Wetzel Pretzels. And then deal with security for both, you could move the security to near the structure, but you can't change the sidewalk, since it is only on the east side near the tram tour. A lot of work, and maybe the need for more staffing, not less.....

Let me add, currently the Tram Loading area at Mickey & Friends is a mess in the morning, so much so I have seen Disney turn off the escalators due to the back up just to board the trams. So I see it would be hard to set up a security check next to the escalators and restrooms.

This is cryptic.

Permit Number: BLD2016-05251 Status: Received Map Info: 1500 S DISNEYLAND DR (DLAND GATE 4)
Name: KAI CHOW
Address: 1500 S DISNEYLAND
Received Date: 10/31/2016
Parcel: 08219026
Description: DTD - Overall Project sunset - Pkg 1 - Miscellaneous: Egress plans for overall downtown area, proposed emergency vehicle access for temporary fences less 7' high fences to close areas for path of travel and (10) canopies will be permitted under fire dept. (Start dated?, End date?)

Couldn't that be for the walkway and tram route directly behind House of Blues? If they need to demolish that building, which will be messy, they would need to secure emergency access around the construction walls.

Sounds like a good reason... I based the "bridge" on the 1500 S Disneyland Dr address.

A few days ago, LaughingPlace posted some photos showing part of the Pinocchio lot blocked off, and the hedges between the tram drive aisle and parking lot removed:

If they're doing a huge resort-wide change in security checkpoints, it seems like it would be reasonably simple to reroute the trams to spend more time passing under the parking garage, exiting further to the west. This would allow for a substantially larger island in the center of the tram turn-around, which could be used for queues, security, and tram load/unload (though of course it does nothing about creating a horde of sitting targets right next to the confines of the garage)

Then again, this area could all be blocked off for something as mundane as new pavement markings. But the removal of the hedges (and asphalt replacement) has me thinking this is something a little more significant than that

Edit: I suspect most of the minor DTD entrances will be permanently closed for guests, perhaps becoming exit-only at peak times; most of them really are unnecessary. Guests walking from M&F could easily be rerouted toward the 4th hotel (which will stretch almost to Magic Way) and through the retail district, rather than along a high-vehicle-traffic street where Disney won't get any of their money

The parking lot has been like that since late September. It sounds reasonable that the area will be reconfigured for security.

Well, it is used for staging for the Half Marathons and related races that runDisney offers. I also have seen Trams and the Wedding Coach staged there at times.

OK, if you look at the current setup of the Mickey & Friends Tram Loading area, the escalators spill out in the middle of the Tram Route, so inside the current "secure" area, and that means special fencing and barriers to prevent a vehicle from getting access to the area. There is a special tram gate on the west side, with retractable bollards to allow trams to enter and exit the secure tram area.

I don't see any way to make the area include a security check without a very major redo and would be expensive.

What are you going to do, move the escalators and restrooms to outside the tram route, and then you still have to deal with pedestrians crossing the tram route to get to the loading areas.

As for the public sidewalks, and special sidewalk to DtD and the Main Entrance Plaza, Disneyland Drive really only has a sidewalk on the east side of the street, which was done on purpose to not have to deal with the traffic entering/exit Mickey & Friends.

And that special sidewalk is required by the city, mainly to provide access in case of an emergency, such as needing to evacuate the area.
