Disneyland Resort - New Entry Gates Incoming?

This feels more like getting Disneyland closer in line with WDW than anything, albeit a different format of entry given they do not use biometrics.

This should really help the process. I am curious, does it seem the new system will just snap a photo when a ticket is scanned for the first time, and you won't need any CM interaction?

They tested, and removed the test gates. I believe the plan was to start install in the fall? Pending how the test went.
Hmm. So they decided to do nothing during what is increasingly a relatively slow period and save the construction for what seems to be the busier-and-busier-every-year Halloween & Christmas seasons?

Seems like they could have thought this through just a bit more, especially with HMH and OBB now starting in August. Unless they scrapped the project entirely or are going to put it off to Jan/Feb.

There is currently work being done right now in front of DLs gates in what could be pre-emptive work for the new gates.

You can see it here in the latest FB construction report, queued to the 24 second mark where it starts to discuss that work -

So they aren't doing nothing, there is obviously other things going on behind the scenes that is happening prior to them just switching out the gates.

Isn't that the fifteenth entry gate they done in so many years but they still can't build a permeant efficient security bag check gateway. How many different ticket scanners to they really need?

You might be thinking of WDW. Because at DLR, other than a few minor changes they haven't really redone the actual gates in years. So this will be the first time, as far as I know, that they actually redo the gates and modernize them probably since DCA opened and they redid the Esplanade.

I think i remember reading something that said the gates haven’t changed since the early 80s or something. If true, these gates have pretty much been there my entire life.

I think they were redone more recently than that, like I mentioned when DCA went in and the Esplanade was redone. But even then that is over 20 years ago at this point, or even longer if you're right.

Its time for them to be redone and modernized.

Would be great to have the security areas modernized also, but alas... we've had two brand new entry points built without change, which tells me that the union is indeed standing in the way of modern upgrades to retain jobs.
