Why did they change the name of the resort to Disneyland Paris? It was originally Disneyland Resort Paris, but they changed it. Likewise, the park was originally Disneyland Paris, but that now applied to the whole resort. What is going on?
The parks are called Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park -- together, they are called Disneyland Paris.
EuroDisney was dropped aside from the parent company since research showed Europeans considered Euro to be connected to banks and money due to the not totally popular currency of the same name used all over Europe.

And they changed the first park from Disneyland Paris to Disneyland Park when Walt Disney Studios Park opened.
I don't know.... The word Euro was flying around the UK in the late 80s and early 90s and was resented in a lot of places as meaning loss of sovereignty.I have heard that before - but it does not really make sense as the resort was renamed in 1994 and the name "Euro" for the currency was only decided upon in 1995.
What I can believe is that the name Euro Disney resembled too much the European Community which's popularity certainly had its ups and downs in different countries.
My personal theory would be however that the renaming was done as an attempt to appear more French for the French visitors (and I think they quickly changed their focus to the French market after the first difficult years) and to try to live on the glamour associated with Paris with regard to other markets.

There again, I agree Disneyland Paris is more romantic than Euro Disneyland.
The funny thing is however, that the name Euro Disney seems to have stuck so much. I know people who when I tell them that I go to Disneyland Paris ask whether this is Euro Disney.
