Disneyland officially reopening April 30th

This brings up another point and probably Chapek's biggest flaw, his biggest concern is selling merchandise. Web Slingers even has the equivalent of video game DLC with the power up you can purchase. Much like Galaxy's Edge, Avengers Campus is something that requires people to buy additional merchandise to get the full experience of the land. This may work great for Chapek in the short term, but this isn't how you build up brand loyalty long term.
Agreed. We visited a small, local aquarium recently. It had a high entrance fee (for what it is), and then inside was one upcharge after another. The nickel and diming me to death does not inspire me to return or recommend it to anyone else. It felt like such a ripoff. Disney has always been expensive, but there was enough value in the experience to make it worth it. If they continue down the path of upcharge-land, they will dilute the brand. It will just become another Six Flags or Universal.

Rough day at Disneyland today. Power surge caused a large number of rides at both parks to shut down. Disney has been restoring power for the last couple of hours.
I went once during a thunderstorm and pretty much every ride went down. I was on pirates and all the animatronics were hunched over like the hydrolics had failed.

Based on photos online of DLR today, it’s hard to imagine that TDA is really limiting attendance much below what it was pre-COVID.

Saw a TikTok yesterday from a woman who was afraid of heights stuck at the top of the Fun Wheel for an hour. Makes me wonder why they don't have backup generators for situations like this.

During a family walk last night we talked about the worst places to get stuck on a ride at DLR. Some of our choices were….

- upside down on the loop on Incredicoaster

- Hell on Mr. Toad

- Finding Nemo

When I was a kid I was on the people mover and it broke while it was in an outside section. I remember them having to release the car so it slid into the next building so we could get off and use an emergency exit.

That sucks but I do have to wonder why someone afraid of heights would bother riding it

That stinks, but ultimately all rides are machines capable of behaving unpredictably. Riders take on that risk when they board any ride vehicle.

It's not practical for Disney or any operator to plan and provide for every possible contingency concerning the ride and every possible guest reaction.
