Disneyland in Spain??? The end of Disney in Paris???

Ok, before I go any further, don't shoot me down as I am NOT making this one up for fun! The info I have been given is something that is apparently being considered at the moment! :p

I am usually a pretty long way behind on the rumour thing being in the UK, but my parents live in Spain and they have contacts who deal in land / property etc over there, and they had been told this by a developer who purchased some land there some years ago.............

So, the story goes..........

Apparently the land is currently owned by a large development company who the sources of this story sell properties for, and it has been said that Disney are very interested in obtaining this land near Almeria in Spain to build a new euro Disney.

Apparently the logic behind this is a better year round location for both weather and potential for further attractions etc, along with the suggestion Spain was the preffered choice for disney all those years ago before Paris was created???

This is considered because Disney see Paris as no good for the winter months due to the constant rain and poor weather which means attendances are down and the novelty of Paris is wearing thin.

Just seems pretty intersting as the source is certainly NOT a fantasist who is speculating about Disney going to Spain because they want it to, but someone who is involved with the vast piece of land (practically a desert!) which is looking for a new owner.

So there you go, feel free to call it specualtion but I thought it was a worthwhile post, the climate certainly makes sense and there is an international airport 1.5hours away (Malaga) aswell as another local airport 15 minutes away which would work for european travellers.

Interested to see what people think!!!! .......................

I dont see how moving the park could be simple... seeing DLRP is owned and operated by Euro Disney S.C.A. and because it is also a french company it would complicate things...

they have plenty of room for development in paris... and things can and will improve there.

I would say this is on par with the Disney park in Texas rumor that comes aroun about once a year to every other year.

Mwuagh!!!

Sound like wishfull thinking on the part of the Spaniards.

Spain was the runner up for EDL in the 80`s but failed due to not enough land being available and poor infrastructure and transport links.

There certainly isn`t constant rain in DLP in winter, indeed the climate is more favourable over a year than Tokyo. The parks and resorts were built with the climate in mind.

DLRP is now doing very well, making an operating profit, and paying off its debts. There is no need to move, should it be financially feasible.

The weather is awful in paris, and considering the source isn't Spanish and therefore not wishful as I said before!

I think the transportations links issue still is very important! DLP relies on short term visitors from all over Europe and Paris is extremely easy to get to: lots of deals on cheap flights available, the Eurostar from the UK. To get to Spain is comparably much more expensive.

This is the kind of stupid posting that drives me crazy. I guess anybody can post anything and call it a rumor.

If you read what i said I wouldn't say it for fun! I posted it because this is what i have heard!

Feel free to disregard it, but don't write stupid stuff!

I guess they let anybody comment on stuff! :hammer:

This is the kind of stupid comment that drives a lot of people crazy on here!

If you don't like it don't read it??? ................:brick:

I don't think anyone who goes to DLP over the winter would say that attendances were down - it's always pretty busy when we go - and coming from north east England, the weather is the same / better than here, so it's a win win situation. (We just take scarves and hats like most other people!)
