Disneyland Hotel

Ok I know that the Grand californian has it's own entrance but how is the transportation from the Disneyland hotel to the park? Is it true you can ride the monorail right from the hotel to Tommorowland? I see on the Disney site it has it's own exclusive park entrance but what does that mean? Just curious thanks for any help.

I'm sure that there are others out there who know more about this than me, and that's really where I got a lot of my information from. But I have been really looking into how to get around and where everything is located. From the maps that I have looked at, it looks like the monorail entrance is located in downtown disney. However, it appears to be really close to the disneyland hotel. I think someone said that that area used to be a disneyland hotel parking lot or bus stop or something. So it stands to reason that it is pretty close.

I think we will try using the monorail a few times on our trip since it sounds like fun & I know the kids will like it. But I think we may walk a few times as well, because I don't want to miss out on entering the park through the main entrance.

I believe that the grand californian has an exclusive entrance to DCA that you can use if you are staying at any of the disney resorts, maybe that is what it means by exclusive entrance?

Hi Disnfanatic. Mouselvrmom is right, the monorail is actually in Downtown Disney. It's very close to the Disneyland hotel (much closer then the front gates to the parks) but it's not attached. The monorail drops you off right in tomorrowland.

The Grand Cal does have an entrance directly into the side of California Adventure. Guests at Paradise Pier used to have one, but it hasn't opened for years. Guests of all three hotels can cut through the GC and use their entrance.

That's kind of a deceptive description there by Disney. Just ask if you have any more questions about them.:)

oh ok, anyways thanks for the help.

Oh and so do you think it is a much nicer trip if you stay at a Disney hotel? I mean it seems like everything is close to Disneyland unlike the world, so transportation wouldn't be an issue, but at the world the Resorts just make it a completly different experience.

That's a hard one. I wouldn't stay anywhere but on property at WDW. Disneyland is different. You can stay off site and be closer then two of the DL hotels. You can have a great vacation, and save money.

But I do love the DL hotels. If I can afford to spend a little more, I'd choose them every time. There absolutely is something magical about the resort hotels.

Yeah I imagine I will end up at DLH or PPH. Is Paradise Peer a lot cheaper? But yeah I only stay on property at the world. Just trying to decide for Disneyland.

PP is cheaper but not a lot. There are AP rates in the fall if that's when you're thinking of going. It might be cheaper to buy an AP and get the great rates.

IMHO, unless you're staying at the Grand there's no reason to stay at a Disney resort at the DLR. As for the entrance in the Grand, it's supposed to be for the exclusive of DLR Hotel Guests (any of the 3 resorts).

I know they offer early admission for hotel guests, so that may be why they say exclusive, but neither the monorail at DTD or the entrace at the Grand Californian are exclusive to hotel guests.

If you are worried about getting around, don't. The main entrace to both parks is really close to all the hotels unlike at WDW.
