Disneyland help questions

Yes, but only with the blessing of size was he able to realize it.

Unfortunately, he passed.

We could argue on and on about this (in a good hearted way), but the fact is...there is only ONE "Magic Kingdom" today, and it lives in Florida.

We have a better castle, we have a larger footprint, we have utilidors.

That being said...DLC has better rides and themes, on average. <sigh>

He wanted room for EPCOT, not MK.

There are only so many times I can say the same thing over and over again haha.
Not gonna stop using it!

That being said, the fun we had about the fact I call it DLC...

Were my recommendations off base? That's what the OP really cares about...

Yeah, but it's normal to point out a name mistake, especially when the name doesn't exist.
It will always be DLC to me. <grin>

I do agree that it's the original, and worthy of the name, but it's like talking to someone who isn't from LA and explaining that Anaheim is NOT LA...they won't get it. Disneyland is used all over the world (literally), so, I use it to confer that I'm speaking about that Disneyland as opposed to others for those who don't see it as such.

My friend from Australia, when we did our trip, didn't see it as "Disneyland"...her home park is Disneyland Hong Kong...if I said Disneyland, that's what she thought of...

So, that's where it comes from.

I understand that, but it's not the name of the park, so I don't understand why you keep using it. I especially wouldn't tell foreigners to call it Disneyland California.

I don't use the term, they do. Remember, they didn't grow up with Disneyland being a California park...they see it as a Hong Kong, Paris or Tokyo park.

Habit. And that it is accurate. As I said, there is more than one Disneyland.

It is not proper. Disneyland is the original, therefor the location is not attached. There's only one Disneyland. The castle parks in other countries need the locations attached. If it was accurate, its official name would be Disneyland Anaheim, or Disneyland California.

I'm going to start calling Magic Kingdom "Disneyland Orlando" or "Disneyland Florida." Maybe "Magic Kingdom Orlando" or "Magic Kingdom Florida", since the Magic Kingdom also exists in Anaheim, CA.

The correct name is Disney Land Florida ;)

Next year I am thinking of doing Disneyland due to the fact I have never been there yet. Im thinking of last week of September 2014.

If anyone has any tips on making the trip easier to plan, like whats up with there meal plan (or whatever that is). I know there meal plan in wdw is amazing and I have heard that disneyland doesn't really have the same kind of plan for food.

So would I have to pre book meals in disneyland or should I just bring cash and wing it?

Is it better to stay in a disneyland hotel or one of there neighbour hotels?

I know there isnt a magical express in disneyland, so what is there instead?

Also do you think 5 nights will be enough for someone who has never been there before?

Hi there Squeek!
Here are my thoughts on your curiosities :

Last week in September is a swell time to visit DL.
You will be able to visit during the popular *Halloween Time* promotion, where the entire Park is all dressed up to the nines for Halloween.
DL has Halloween Parties as well during that time of year, which you may already be familiar with since you have visited WDW so many times.
Also, you will be able to experience the unique Haunted Mansion overlay that is only at DL...the famous *Haunted Mansion Holiday*. If you are a fan of *The Nightmare Before Christmas* film or characters, you will likely enjoy this overlay.

Disneyland does not have as extensive a Dining Plan program as WDW does.
My advice is to just pay out-of-pocket as you go.
There are some fantastic dining spots at DL and DCA, and you can make reservations in advance ...as of October 3rd via online..yay!
Some must-do dining at DL in my opinion would be the Blue Bayou, Cafe Orleans, Carthway Circle, or the mega-chic Napa Rose.

As far as your hotel stay, i would recommend staying at a non-Disney owned hotel for two main reasons:
All three Disney Resorts are insanely expensive a night, and when there are so many other choices just as close to the Park(s) it seems crazy to waste all that money. Good Neighbor hotels are fine...but even the non-Neighbor hotels can be great values. Do your research however online....and make sure you do not end up in a back alley dump!
For a WDW, the DL Hotels will seem less value for the money because of the differences in Resort benefits WDW vets are used to. There is no Magical Express services included in your stay, and no extended EMH benefits. There ARE EMHs, but they are dramatically shorter then what WDW vets are used to and likely expecting.
So for me, the high costs of staying at a Disney Hotel at DL makes no sense.

As far as airport transfers, there are several, but all of them are basically shuttle services you must book or arrange on your own.
A common service is the Disneyland Express...which is a coach service/bus that picks you up off the curb at LAX or SNA airport for a fee and brings you to your DL area hotel.
For the return trip you must call and make a reservation to be picked up.
There are other services, Super Shuttle, and of course the usual taxis and town car options.
I found the DL Express to be decent.

Five days is a great number for spending time at the DL Resort in my opinion.
This will give you plenty of time to take in all the sights at a RELAXING pace...instead of feeling the need to rush around and squeeze in as much as you can.
You can spend two days at DL alone, another at DCA, and use the other two to revisit things you want to experience again, or from different angles.
Add into that mix DTD and nearby places of interest like the Gardenwalk and you will certainly have more then enough to keep you entertained for five days.

:)
