So....DLR raised their Prices today......IDK why! It's not like DL's Entertainment is back to normal! F! still doesn't have the full Pyro, no Dragon. We don't even have confirmation that there is a New Dragon!
2 Night Parades are still locked up!

Honestly!!!!!!!
It's because of all the new stuff coming to the parks, plus Disneyland Forward, plus the potential new park. That's not cheap.

Yeah… no. They could easily lower prices and still afford that.
Really? It's supposed to be somewhere in the range of a 40+ billion dollar expansion. Not only that, add all the new rides, new shows, decor, new entry gates, DTD overhaul. That's like 55 billion, at LEAST.
They couldn't lower them. Not entirely sure they needed to raise them but they sure as heck couldn't lower them. Or they could, but then it'd be the quality of Tianas and you'd complain about low-budget, low effort bad attractions. Hence why they raised prices. They want this to actually be good, which takes money.

The point being made I believe is that the Parks, specifically DLR, makes plenty of money on its own at the previous price levels that it could have afforded all of that including DLForward and the 70th stuff without raising prices.

Also the DLForward stuff is amortized over 40+ years, its not all coming in the next 12 months. So this price increase will have little affect on that.

The reason why a company raises prices is to increase profit and not cut into their margins when they do have additional costs. And in this case I would guess that they are trying to offset lost revenue from other Parks like WDW which have been down in attendance.

First, Disney has a cost control problem. Second, budget is not an absolute correlation to quality. Third, Disney has committed to spending $60 billion on the division over the next decade. 90% of that money is not going to capital projects, much less just ones at Disneyland Resort. So your math is already clearly nonsense. The $60 billion spend is an increase, but it’s not an astronomical increase that couldn’t be covered with current revenues while still maintaining profitability. Disney’s price increases have long outpaced inflation, they’re not about just keeping up with expenses.

No. It’s because they bought 20th Century Fox for $70 billion and Iger is one of those people who believes it when someone tells him a bridge is for sale.
It was a lot less because they had to sell off Sky... to Comcast... at an inflated price ($40B).

By all metrics, the purchase of Fox was the right thing to do to ensure the switch from linear/cable TV, which was dying (and on the way to being dead dead) to streaming. Any financial woes have been from the Pandemic and the initial investment in their streaming projects (and overspending on content two years ago, which all the streamers did... which was Chapek's ultimate downfall).

Disney now has a robust content library and continuing content production for children, adults, and family. Disney just nabbed the most Emmy wins this year... thanks to purchasing Fox.

With this price increase, will you still be going to the parks?
Speaking for ourselves this just confirms that we won’t be renewing our keys. (We already didn’t plan to but were wavering.)

Rather than buying keys, going 7-8 weekends a year, and spending $10-15k a year at DL I can confidently say we’ll likely go one or 2 weekends next year and likely spend $2-4k total at DL.

We just don’t see the repeat value anymore, we’ll be in Europe, visiting national parks, and on Cruise ships instead.

If we lived in LA we’d still get them though, the irony is they are pricing out the out of state visitors that stayed in the hotels and ate onsite in favor of locals that just run over for a few rides and then leave and eat at home.
