"Unscrupulous" is reporting that CMs are being scheduled to work Fantasmic shifts this weekend.
Plus, it's still on the Schedule for this weekend....Which is wierd to me......You'd think F! would be nowhere on the Calendar at this point after Sat night.....

Maybe TSI is not as bad as we feared???

It appears it was limited to the dragon, which is primarily a steel structure located above a concrete pit, other than the internal mechanics, wiring, and the skin there’s not much else to damage.

Until they can get replacement parts Murphy will probably just sit (burned) under the stage while the show goes on overhead. It’ll be curious to see when F! appears on the refurb schedule because that’ll probably be the first indicator of when it’s going to be fixed.

I also forgot to mention that after we left the area and headed up to Galaxy's Edge to ride MFSR again. The whole land was covered in smoke and it was like a fog rolled in. Couldn't see higher than the buildings. We could smell it all the way inside when you get to the Falcon's chess room. It was pretty bad. By the time we got off the ride most of it had blown away, so we figured that they'd probably extinguished the fire by then.

From here on out... Murphy will be the west coast version of the Yeti... forever left broken :)

I sure hope not, that would be the worst possible outcome.

I found an old construction picture and everything below ground looks pretty impervious to fire. I do wonder if the Aladin carpet survived, it was probably the only other thing in real danger below stage.

On the night of the incident (April 22) during the first 9pm F!, the show was having some trouble with the stage lifts. Murphy was also not breathing fire apparently.

The extrememly rare B-mode finale was done where Mickey stays on top of the cabin. Then it and Murphy's fire got fixed for the second show, so what happened in between will probably be scrutinized. It seems like a bunch of things was going wrong leading to the events of the fire.

This is a video capturing the last finale before the 10:30pm show.

You have to consider virtually everything will likely have to be gutted. Structure maybe intact, but every wire, every hose, every piece of electronics, every motor is compromised or toast. You're dealing with a situation that isn't budgeted for in the 2nd half of their fiscal year... plus they know they have cheaper alternatives already on the books. The odds are certainly stacked against a rebuild.

"Disneyland has opted to extinguish signature flamethrower effects from its nighttime fireworks and water shows in the wake of the stunning technical failure that led to the “Fantasmic” dragon bursting into a towering inferno.

Disneyland has temporarily suspended fire effects in “Wondrous Journeys” and “World of Color — One” out of an abundance of caution following the “Fantasmic” prop fire, according to Disneyland officials."

------

"“Wondrous Journeys” features skyward flamethrower-like effects on the Fantasyland rooftops around Sleeping Beauty Castle during the fireworks show. “World of Color — One” also features similar fire effects in Paradise Bay during the water show."

Oh, gosh, that was it! The Who. What am I thinking of with The Rolling Stones? I know there was a tragedy at one of their concerts too. Maybe earlier.

I am unfamiliar with the AstroWorld deaths, but I do remember the Cincinnati tragedy being a very big deal. It resulted in law changes in Ohio as I remember, and concern about similar outdoor events.

I do wonder what the strategy is for that Fantasmic! viewing area. I can't be the only one to have had a fleeting thought of uneasiness while packed in there shoulder to shoulder with no visible exit path waiting for the show to start. Can I?
Just a quick point of clarification.

The tragedy surrounding the Who concert did not involve people having trouble evacuating the venue. It was actually members of the crowd crashing their way INTO the venue, presumably in order to get GA spots close to the stage.

Initial AP report is included HERE .

Nonetheless, to your point, a crowd is a crowd and plans need to be in place to deal with them.

It’s been removed. Show will remain dark this weekend, and possibly longer.

I've already came up with alternate plans for the nights that I'll be at Disney. Most of the time I do Fantasmic so World of Color One will be replacing Fantasmic so long as the Fantasmic remains closed for me.

I had Fantasmic reserved for its birthday on May 13th but I'm not sure if itll return by then.

You know that better than an official Disney tour guide and the Disneyland app/website? Are you Bob Iger? Are you the president of the Disneyland Resort? Are you Josh D'Amaro? No. So How would you know this?

You could've just went on the site and see that it did in fact got removed for this weekend. And assuming that they are gonna have it offline for a while you are gonna see it eventually removed from the schedule for the next several weekends.

Lol I love that you think an “official Disney tour guide” will have firsthand knowledge. But I think the updated website proves my point. I also don’t need to be an executive to have my own sources.

So I've been asking around about how this happened. The answers I've gotten points to DL management forcing the show to go on despite push back from the entertainment techs. It seems to be a maintenance failure, but one due to poor staffing and untenable timelines forced from DL Management.

What I heard a lot was, the dragon having a critical failure, was a WHEN not an IF based on how things were being run.

If true (and I have no reason to doubt it is) this makes it all the more sadder to me. It sounds like this could have easily been prevented if given the proper attention.
It also concerns me. We've all seen the lack of maintenance on attractions and other areas of the parks. This time we only lost a dragon. Is it possible lack of maintenance (or rushed maintenance) could cause a safety feature on an attraction to fail? Maybe not...after all, I'm no engineer. But for the first time ever I'm concerned about safety on Disney attractions.
