Disneyland 1991 - Vol. III

Considering this thread sorta went silent for a moment, maybe a fun - and more streamlined - launching point for us could be just focusing on the original Disneyland Park? What improvements, renovations, and alternate directions could we take if we went back to 1991?

Here is map of Disneyland Park in 1991. Note the absence of Toontown, Indiana Jones, and much of present-day Tomorrowland.

Ah yes, my favorite land, RIVERS OF AMERICA! All joking aside, I will at least do our WESTCOT area alongside the main park!

Thanks, Outbound, for trying to re-start this project. We had some great energy on it for a while when we first started.

I'm dating myself here, but some of my earliest memories come from my 1991(?) trip to Disneyland! I remember staying at the Disneyland Hotel (and the pool there), taking the monorail (which helped to fuel my interest in transportation), my dad bringing his big video camera into the park (and onto Splash Mountain, which opened in 1989), and the Disney Afternoon Live! show (https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2016/03/a-look-back-disney-afternoon-live-at-disneyland-park/). However, it's worth noting that I the Matterhorn was open on any of my first three trips (as far as I can remember), so it wasn't til 2008 that I finally rode it.

1991 is 2 years before Toontown opened at Disneyland, so we have some potential there for a re-theme. Maybe a Disney Afternoon land (but remember that Mickey and Minnie didn't have their own attractions until Toontown)?

@MonorailRed I don’t think it’s too late to restart this thread! Let's pick up where we left off in the late summer, I was trying to simultaneously make a 3rd Gate based on mythology, find out how to integrate Indy into the main park, and make the WESTCOT shopping district into a theme park/shopping district hybrid, everyone else was doing something different that was interesting, and you were seeing and praising all these concepts. I'd also like to bring someone new in, @Muppetsfan#1 because he is very good at making both written concepts and maps to go with them so he will be very useful. Anyone else who wants to pitch in, feel free to do so! I'm saying this because I have some ideas that I think are perfect for WESTCOT, the main park, and the 3rd Gate!

Let's do it!

Would WESTCOT be like the original version or is it changed someway

There would probably be some changes from the original - but definitely we can carry things from the original over!

Lets just make westcot the downtown disney and make discovery bay the water park (and connect them)
The second gate could be an ip park
third gate: music? dark kingdom? myths? disney’s america?

Hi!
I’ve just been skimming this, but are you planning on using the Geyser Mountain concept? If so, it might be cool to use something like Grizzly Peak surrounding that; I believe Parklore did something similar with their Magic Kingdom buildout and I thought it was a cool idea. Might be a fun way to preserve the (in my opinion) best original part of DCA!
