News Disneyland’s new Star Wars land is enforcing the theme park’s official costume policy

People make good points why they don't allow costumes but there is still a middle ground. Do a special costume day or something like Dapper days, only SW based and a more common event like a few times a year. Let people come to the land for a day dressed up. Give them a reason to buy those expensive robes at least. Where else are people going to wear this stuff? At least the Harry Potter robes can fit into the real world.

Thats the beauty of this land, they can do so many things with it to get hard fans showing up and even paying a little more for he privilege. A cos play day would go over big.

These special days are abominations to the park and should be banned.

Anyway, I just don’t see the point in buying dress up clothes if you’re an adult in the first place. Are you really going to wear it around somewhere besides Disneyland?

If it was a wookie costume you could wear it to a furry convention!

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.

Why do people buy church clothes when they only wear them to hang around the same people every Sunday at church? People enjoy dressing up for different occasions. That's okay. I know people who love to throw on their Disney gear when they are going to the park because it gives them joy. Who cares if they like it? If an adult wants to wear a cool fun outfit that helps them enjoy the day more and brings enjoyment to others, then there's no issue.

They should clearly allow the costumes purchased in the park to be worn in the park. If the costumes are too similar to the CM costumes, change either the CM costumes or the ones for sale to differ more. Why would I buy a $100 tunic at Galaxy's Edge if I can't wear it there and have that fun experience of playing along?

CMs in Galaxy's Edge have their own nametags so there are still small differences, but I see your point.
Disney parks sells name tags. Or they used to. I have an old Star Tours tag with my name in Aurebesh. Looks like a CM tag but cheaper. I stopped wearing it because it confused people.

Wasn’t that my point? What purpose is there to these clothes if not to wear at Disneyland.

Parks can, do, and should have dress codes. You have never been able to waltz into DL wearing any darn thing you please. It's starting to hit home to SW fans that Galaxy's Edge is a land created for the Disneyland masses and not for the relatively small number of diehards who want to actually pretend they're a SW character. Disneyland is not a LARP park. Now, it's fine to say that they shouldn't sell costumes in the park you can't wear on site, but again: Would you rather they didn't sell exclusive costumes at all? I can certainly imagine the suits planning *special* night events for diehards to pay through the nose for some costumed playtime.

I would say the same about a $200 lightsaber. Idk different strokes I guess.

This is what I'm expecting to happen around the release of Ep9, and around May 4th.

I used to constantly come from my white collar job and people would assume I worked there. I even had CMs hold open backstage doors as I was walking by because they assumed I was heading back there.
Get yourself an old name tag off ebay and go wherever you want. Of course if you get caught, it is off to the unhappiest place on Earth. I'm sure there are key card readers to keep people out.

GE was sold that way. If you crash the Falcon, you could have a bounty placed on you, etc. Some kind of vague point system that is carried with you was mentioned.

Some of us adults actually wear ties most days.

One Good reason to live in California... Business Casual :)

Ties are hardly worn out here. The last time I put one on was the State of the City Luncheon.

Next will be June 20th and the ACE CoasterCon Banquet.

Yes, dressing nicely is sometimes a good thing, and do it on a regular basis, especially when it gets my wife to dress up. Just don't need the choking device.

Heck, as a soccer fan, try to wear the scarf as little as possible.
